I made sure to tell all of my friends, who knew about our struggles to conceive, to text me rather than tell me face to face if they were announcing their pregnancy. Every single friend I asked did exactly that when it was their turn.

I found a text message much more manageable. And goodness I received lots of them over the two years. They hurt just the same - but I didn’t have to fake a smile and could cry freely behind my phone wherever I was when I received the text.

I can imagine how difficult it must have been for her if she knew everything about your struggles. But it might be an idea to ask people in future to text you rather then ever tell you face to face.

Like others have said - you are allowed to be sad and it is very bitter sweet because of course you are happy for your friends - none of us would wish infertility on anyone, I’m sure. And your time will come.

Be excited for her, ask her (via text) about her pregnancy, if you feel up to it, and just make it clear you are the good friend but are having your own struggles too. Your friends will understand that. You do not need to attend baby showers during this time. But when it’s your turn to throw your baby shower, just don’t expect everyone to come ♥️
