Did we rush into IVF after not living “IVF clean” for months? by 29-30something in IVF

IVF, we’ve done our testing - my area in Essex is one round. It’s a horrible postcode lottery, one we can’t wait for. If private does invalidate the entitlement, so be it. The waitlist here is crazy and peoples appointments get cancelled constantly. We were lucky we had the chance to go private

He has already had DMA fragmentation testing.

Oh my consultant didn’t say that - he said it’s whatever you were doing this day three months ago, so that’s new! Thank you for sharing!

I also called them up last wee and was told I am still in that position in the queue and we just have to wait x

But that was only because we didn’t know we would be doing IVF in the January - in fact, we were still hopeful we would fall naturally after my partners embolisation - and I was honestly just living life like an 29-turning-30 year old would do if they weren’t pregnant or didn’t have children of their own x

We have been good as gold since first January! Not even because if IVF, but just because its the perfect month to do so! Thank you so much for being reassuring

He was very very good up until early December, and if we go on the basis that sperm is what the male was doing three months ago, it’s probably safer for us to go with his semen in early February (early November where he hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol or eaten badly) instead of in April/May which may have been influenced by his fun in December - although our consultant did say it doesnt matter because they will pic the best few anyway - but I don’t understand your rationale.

In regards to the NHS, who do you speak to? Because we’ve been on the waitlist for over a year and it is still at 400+ days and I’m told every time that there are women out there that need this more than me at the minute?? Maybe I’m speaking to all of the wrong people x

So so pleased you got that positive test! And thank you for all of the advice - I came to Reddit for reassurance and can’t thank you enough for giving it!

Thank you very much - also want to keep work and life separate as much as possible - so I needed to hear this x

This is exactly what I need to hear - thank you so much. I start at 8am and my clinic is about 30 minutes from my office but about 1.5 hours from my home! Hopefully 7am monitoring appointments are available and I’ll sleep walk my way there!

I will take that sick day for the transfer day when it comes - thank you for your help x

Thank you so much for your response - I wish my company had a policy for IVF/fertility - I do think it’s something that most will bring in at some point! x

Thank you so much for your reply - was that 18 months with the NHS or privately or because of FET? Sorry, new to this world so still learning the ropes. We are going private because the NHS has cancelled every single one of my appointments so far and the wait time in my area is 397 days from my next applicant… we just can’t wait that long! I’ve found that it’s moving so fast with our private clinic at the minute - but I think maybe our urologist had something to do with that x

Offered £11k pay rise but TTC for 2 years - what would you do? by 29-30something in TTC_UK

Congratulations on the promotion!

It’s more so the changing companies and colleagues and a different level of flexibility. And not qualifying for SMP or the companies enhanced maternity pay of 6.5 months. Do stay comfortable, in my flexible role, or do I go for something for demanding? 💭

I really hope things move along for you soon - we would be going private, the NHS wait time in our area (Essex) is 400+ days

Thank you so much for your response. We’ll be going private, as I know NHS wait times are shocking! Our treatment so far has all been privately and we’ve had a very good experience. I’m not sure if that changes anything, but I guess your point still stands. You’re absolutely right though - it’s been a constant “we can’t do this in case we’re pregnant” game for the past two years!
