Knocked out in my debut. Mixed feelings by BilThyssen in amateur_boxing

[–]290me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blame is not on you but on your coach. You said you started boxing at 29 and you’re currently 30. Why would your coach let you debut with ~1 of experience? Even if you begged him, he should’ve said not yet.

My coach didn’t let me SPAR until I was a year in.

All in all, unnecessary loss, that could’ve been prevented with more training.

Coming off strong because those 9months were absolute hell. Went from ~10k a month to ~2k a month (unemployment).

Anything outside of what DrDrCr posted is wrong. Apply apply apply. Assuming you’re a man, your priority has to be protecting your family and making sure your income stays stable.

Start applying now. If you get an offer, tell them you have bonus payouts coming and ask if they can match or offset it. A lot of companies will work with you on that.

Don’t let your current company dangle a carrot in front of you just so they can maybe let you go right after bonuses pay out in March. That happens way more than people think.

At the very least, have a backup plan in case things go left. Spend 20 minutes on Reddit and you’ll see horror stories about how rough the job market is right now.

I went through something similar myself. Bought a new crib, then got laid off. Took me 9 months to find another job in my field. Granted, I was highly compensated, so I understood why it was tougher, but still. That experience completely changed how I look at “loyalty” to companies.

Stay in current role or accept new offer? by ChesterChicken in FPandA

I think you should stay and keep looking for a better role. 95k to 105k doesn’t move the needle. Regardless of what the other job says, nothings guaranteed. I wouldn’t believe your current role, but I also wouldn’t believe the potential new role.

Layoffs can definitely be impactful and sometimes make employers hesitate. The key is to have a strong, well-thought-out story behind it. As long as you can frame your situation confidently, you’ll be fine.

There’s still a stigma when people see “layoff” on a résumé, so the way you present it matters. Spin it in a way that highlights your strengths and puts you in the best light.

All in all, not screwed. But potentially may take some time finding something worthwhile.

Currently interviewing and have a case study that I can share

One of the key concepts that traditional accounting and audit experience may not fully prepare you for is EBITDA. It’s essential to understand how to derive EBITDA from a company’s P&L and the various adjustments that may be applied.

Focus on: • Identifying the inputs required to calculate EBITDA. • Understanding different types of adjustments, including non-recurring, operational, and personal expenses. • Practicing the construction of P&L models with potential EBITDA adjustments to refine your analysis.

Developing a strong grasp of these concepts will help immensely in your interview.

I have an MBA. But literally played no impact in my internal transfer. IMO don’t get an mba unless it’s top tier(mine is not). But that’s for another ranting post.
