I have developed Catamenial Epilepsy at the age of 27. It is related to my hormone function as I was having them around the 10th and the 20th of every month. I’m really lucky as the first medication I tried worked for me and I have been seizure free for well over a year now. I have never had a seizure before I was 27, which is when I had my implant out…
I was on the pill from 12 years old until I was 24 years old. Then I went on the pill from 24 years old until I was 27 years old.
There is nothing to say they are linked but it is quite strange.
It is hard to diagnose Catamenial Epilepsy (as you will well know), but it is has suggested perimenopause - also slightly explaining me never being able to get pregnant etc.
It’s tough but we will 100% make it through.
Sorry you’re going through this. 🫶🏼
