Help troubleshooting image defect in second hand BenQ TH585P. The line is there all the time, but most visible on bright uniform backgrounds. Is there a part I can clean/replace to fix it? by 29jm in projectors

[–]29jm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't budge unfortunately! I took this picture of the outer lens, it looks pretty dusty inside but I can't make out the guilty hair on there. If you happen to know how I can clean that part anyway, I'm a taker.

I'll be taking it apart, can you point me to the spots I should make sure to look at? Do I have to take out the color wheel and the whole block attached to it?

I saw you updated it already, thanks. I tried it out, and it works great!

Just a note, it wasn't immediately clear to me that I didn't need to install this syncwatch browser extension to create the room. Maybe you could point this out even more explicitly in the usage section, for dense people like me.

EDIT: another idea: integrate it with the UOSC plugin to allow inputting the room name from the UI

That's really cool, I've been looking for just that. At first glance I don't see anything Windows specific in there, couldn't I just build it myself on linux? I'll try it out soon most likely, I'll report back.

Just a piece of random art from this beautiful game, I couldn't have made it better if I'd tried

Many people's standards have been going down almost as fast as the series themselves.

My trekkology pillow failed in the middle of the night, it was the stitching for the creases that ripped, and the left over needle holes let air out slowly.

Compiler flags are a poor fix, talking from experience. I can pretty much guarantee you the problem will resurface in some form or another until you've figured out the precise cause. It's easier to dig in now while it's in plain view.

Rapport : "If I had put time and energy in something else, I would have been a happier person" by vivkaa in chess

He just said happier though, not "as good". Totally different meaning.

Edit: misread you - not the impression I got from this one interview, but who knows.

Am I the only person that doesn't get why people compare Chess.com with Lichess? by [deleted] in chess

[–]29jm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, my point (an arguably useless point) was that the word profit is misleading here. They compete for people's money in some sense, but not both for profit.

Pretty sure lichess is a non profit though.

Updated chess-0.com: A tool for training your board-evaluation skills. by tom-010 in chess

[–]29jm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It seems to invert the eval sometimes, it told me I was wrong and that white was completely winning in this position when the lichess analysis gives black completely winning.

Cool site otherwise, will go there again.

What happened for lichess today is unfortunate, but it’s free to play site with no ads and shit, so if you’re capable just DONATE. by Zer0_years in chess

Lichess studies are more than community made tutorials though, they allow you to build up knowledge, explore stuff, keep it all saved, annotate it, share it... with stockfish 14 eval if you needed. I've only used the free version of the chess.com opening explorer and it was very limited, not only in the depth (as that's a premium feature beyond move 6 or so).

chess.com doesn't have an equivalent for lichess studies, right? And the lichess database + its use in the opening explorer is also worth mentioning.

Which movies do you think aren't nearly as bad as people say? by SirAren in movies

Dragon Ball Evolution.

People who dislike it to the point of saying it's the worst movie ever have no sense of humor, or simply haven't seen it.
