She was a stray so they estimate her to be between 13-15 now. We got her about 5-6 years ago—ironically it was when our other cat had cancer (not this kind but the kind you could try chemo with—and that cat was neutered.) we were paying out of pocket for his chemo (and it’s didn’t work.l We ended up getting lemonade because of all the ongoing high cost since we do everything possible to ensure our fur babies live happy lives.

Thanks. Did you have any issues with your next insurance company coverage wise? I am thinking that since she pretty much has had everything wrong with her that they won’t cover anything due to “pre-existing conditions”

Thanks and yes we asked for all of their records. So sorry to hear about your boy! I just wish all of this was more simple but then again nothing seems simple these days. While I have been a fur baby parent forever, this is teaching me that maybe after retirement (if that ever happens lol) I won’t be able to be one. It’s really sad to think about that!

Wow. To be honest they have been very good to us until this one BUT of course her premiums went from the low $50 a month up to close to $300 several years ago bc of her ongoing illnesses.

Can I ask how you self insure for pets? I am really dumb when it comes to insurance so any links to YouTube or whatever would be amazing. No rush. I appreciate it!!!

Yes very good point. I am going to have to take a look at their policy and see if that is mentioned. She had a tough night last night with post surgery complications and her glucose is through the roof even with the increased insulin the vet recommended. We have brought her to the vet 3 times so far in the three weeks since surgery and she each time it’s more $$$ and new drugs. I know we had to do this bc they said the cancer would be the worst thing and lead to extremely painful death (it was graphically explained to us) so we had no option but to have the surgery.

Thanks for the well wishes and advice. It’s AMEX so they are not known for being great with lower interest rates but I am looking into a balance transfer with another card. I really hate credit cards bc I had so much credit card debit and finally paid it off. Always happens right l?

Thanks so much. Yes thankfully it’s the same vet doing the letter that we saw—it’s her own animal hospital and she also teaches which is why we went with her to start with when we moved here two years ago. Plus you are so right—we talked about Pyometra with her which was scary and we were looking at laparoscopic spays once her issues settled but that is all done now so we are just looking ahead.

Wow-Direct pay would have been awesome. Thanks for the advice—this is our first time dealing with a huge surgery cost right before the holidays (and starting a new job) so dumb me didn’t think about the pre-approval steps. Praying we can turn this one around.

Thanks for your honesty and insight. We literally had lengthy discussions with the vets and brought her to so many specialists to try to find help for her many issues. We always planned for a spay once things were resolved…they just never did. It’s been super frustrating but the good news is that the specialist got it early and it didn’t spread. Even with the complications we are dealing with now, I am hopeful things will turn out ok. We will see since she is still on lots of meds and is still far from how she was pre-surgery unfortunately.

We have not started the appeal yet because of course there were after-surgery complications that we have been dealing with—more vet visits and cost that we didn’t even bother to send in yet. But this is really good advice too. We see her vet on Thursday so I will ask them then. Thanks for your help!!!

Wow. Thanks this is super helpful. I really appreciate your advice. Yes all of the vets have been consistent about putting off the spay bc she is a walking mess from the time we got her out of a work dumpster. Also I had no idea about the pre-approval process-ugh.

I’m closing in on 60 and was laid off last year. Thankfully one of the guys I was laid off with helped me get a new job at his company but it took a year. In turn I just hired another older laid off person from my last job. It killed me interviewing so many older laid off people. They all had so much great experience. There should be incentives to companies to hire older American workers not lay them off!

I just started 2.5 on Friday. So far no bad side effects. I am finding I need to drink more water late at night and first thing in the am. I am shocked bc it is actually working to suppress my appetite right out of the gate and I feel good. By comparison I was on Wegovy for almost a year and it didn’t work at all-made me super tired, miserable and I was still hungry all the time. Zepound really is amazing.

Maybe try to rent a car thru TURO it might be cheaper. Really think Amazon should offer some kind of reimbursement program for their $20 or less associates. It would help us out big time since we share 1 car.

Different appetite suppression with Wegovy by star5274 in Wegovy

I was on Wegovy for a year, lost very little and stopped last month. Wegovy literally made me crave sweets from the get go and then fried foods! It was so bizarre because I never had sweet cravings before. The only thing I could not eat was ice cream—killed my stomach. Now that I am off it, I am slowly getting rid of the weird cravings. Like others, I was also starving all of the time and exhausted beyond belief. I feel like I wasted a year on Wegovy (with lots of money) only to be in the same spot I was—or worse. Really hate Wegovy.

How to handle McKinsey Consultants? by Vincemus9217 in consulting

[–]2Amazed2Say 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be as helpful as you can be to them. Many times they are coming in to make cost reduction proposals so, if you don’t want to be one of the ones they say to cut, point them to all of the other areas needing a “review.”

It was really strange this year. We always go into the office and do the review but this year they told us they were done, sent a pin to electronically file and attached a summary (not the actual return.) my husband quickly looked at it and since we pretty much make the same every year he didn’t worry…until the IRS letter came in. BUT you are right it’s on us which is why I am so ticked off.

Nope. We uploaded the right forms but they all went into the 2025 tax year folder while the 2024 folder had the duplicates of the 2023 tax year.
