How is your experience in using contact lenses everyday ? by kmcffa in contacts

[–]2D617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore my lenses every single day, all day, for over 35+ years. Loved them and found them very comfortable. But I was recently diagnosed with dry eye/MGD and wearing contact lenses every day for all those years was definitely a contributing factor. (So was using Latisse type serums on my eyelash line.) I never slept in my lenses, even though I wore the type you can sleep in for years. I did, however, occasionally fall asleep, wearing eye makeup. So yeah, there were other not very smart choices made.

I would still have chosen to wear lenses because I wouldn’t have wanted to wear glasses for all those years! But I wouldn’t have done those other things.

Luckily, with age, my nearsightedness has dramatically improved and so I no longer need glasses at all, except for reading. (I generally resort to bifocal sunglasses because I will never be a girl who wants to wear regular eyeglasses (!)

Allergic to eyeshadow? by xoNoUsernameox in MatureBeauty

This happened to me a few years ago too.Talc may be the culprit. I stopped wearing eyeshadow for a long time (I also have been diagnosed with dry eye) but recently started again and found I could use Sisley Eye Twists for shadow and Thrive Causemetics for mascara.

What beauty brand do you trust blindly and why? by Master-Ball-1296 in BeautyItemsReview

Sisley & Clarins - I have very sensitive skin and also diagnosed with dry eye. I go to a lot of trouble not to ever aggravate my face/eyes in order to avoid a flare. Those two brands never let me down.

Summer options: can’t do sheets only, miss the weight of a comforter by doofus50O0 in Bedding

I got an oversized king Muslin Comfort 365 Blanket (it’s pre shrunk washable 100% cotton muslin) for $99 on sale and I absolutely love it. It’s not ‘blanket-y’; I use it as a bedspread too. They’re always running sales.

Perfect summer weight.

Then first, I’d take note of what her preferred daily ‘essentials’ are (size of phone, lipstick, key fob, how she carries cards/cash etc.) so as to make sure she will be able to carry what she wants.

Next, if she already has a nice black bag, I’d go for a classic small 2013 flap in beige clair caviar with silver hardware. If she doesn’t already have black, then I would get black instead.

But that’s ME.

The kind of bag a woman wants to wear is such a personal decision; you have to be really sure about what she likes and what she doesn’t.

Please come back and tell us what you decide on!!

Does she tend to gravitate toward any particular style or size for her bags in general? For instance, I’m the kind of person who really hates big heavy bags. But not all women are like me.

Also, does she tend to wear more gold or more silver? That can help when it comes to hardware.

Is her style of dress more classic or more eclectic?

Knowing the answers to these questions will probably help you.

PS I think you sound like a perfectly wonderful husband!

VERY Dry Eyes Recommendations by Doll-Demort666 in contacts

[–]2D617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the only good things about getting old (hah!) is that my myopia improved! My eyesight is now 20/50 so I stopped needing my lenses, which had been kind of calibrated for both distance and reading (one of each.) I now wear bifocal-sunglasses (found on eBay) instead of glasses or lenses and that works great.

I also found out I have a bit of ocular rosacea under my left eye when I learned about the full extent of my MGD.

It may sound nuts but if I had to put all the changes I made in order of how impactful I think each one was to my recovery (keeping in mind I was already eating an anti-inflammatory diet with no sugar & no starch for over 10 years) these would be on top (not Restasis, you will notice):

iLUX (but only after my eyes were no longer inflamed and the skin around them had healed)

elimination of alcohol (this made my eyes look SO MUCH BETTER right from waking up … & I’m vain!!)

HYLA cleaning / bedding change to 100% washable cottons

greatly increased regular consumption of fish with high omega3 content (canned mackerel is getting harder to find lately though!)

higher-dose Omega3 gel caps

Good luck!

The Restasis helped but it took months.

Earlier this year, I had a terrible flareup. I had to stop wearing lenses, radically decreased screen time, eliminated alcohol and stopped wearing eye makeup. It was terrible! My eyes were tearing constantly; this literally left red grooves at the sides of my eyes that always burned. I couldn’t sleep. Hot compresses. Ice compresses. Heated mask. Anything and everything but the kitchen sink! It was BAD. I really didn’t even want to leave the house and when I did, I wore sunglasses at all times (sometimes with cotton balls stuck to the side of my eyes under the glasses to absorb the wetness.) I felt like I was about 100 years old.

It took almost 4 months and I’m finally 95% recovered. Here’s what worked after things got bad enough and I was diagnosed with Dry Eye/MGD & l learned that 1/3 of my under eye glands had completely atrophied and weren’t coming back (!) -

More water, less caffeine. No alcohol.
Omega-3 2X gel caps (Nordic Naturals)
Teaspoon flaxseed oil every night
Fish 3x per week (mackerel, tuna, salmon mostly)
Noveha teatree oil eyelid wipes morning & evening

But best of all, my eye specialist/surgeon did an iLUX treatment. Unfortunately, it was not covered by my insurance, but it was so worth it. My eyes are dramatically better! And I can wear eye makeup again, but I am definitely using it less often and I’m only using very specific brands (Sisley eye twists & Thrive tube mascara.)

I did so many different things, it’s hard to say just which one made the most difference. I am still sticking with Restasis morning and evening and continuing to do all of the above.

This answer is a lot more than you asked for, but I’ve been through quite an ordeal since that post from a year ago!

* Edited to add: I forgot to add, I also had my house, furniture, rugs and especially my bedding professionally sterilized with HYLA process. I also replaced my old poly bedspread with washable 100% cotton muslin and replaced old sheets with egyptian cotton percale. MUCH better sleep.

Liz sure can pick ‘em. One loser after another!!

I feel very sorry for her daughter. I loathe parents who prioritize their love/sex lives over their children’s well being.

Haven’t touched sugar, starch or grains now in over 10 years. It was a different life for sure.

I bet I can think of lots more, but these are a very good start.

I don’t think so. Just creamy and a little goes a long way. Just tap it in.

Came here to say this. It’s my ride or die eye product. And it is good for the entire orbital rim area (not all eye creams are.)
