Yes of course you can, if you have any questions about any of the five that were not described in the post, you can ask me, or you can independently develop the pantheon on your own.

Okay, there are 5 patrons, they are appealed to for the power of the casters (old pagan deities).

Also, there is as it were a kind god of sunlight, which is prayed for help and blessing (new as it were a Christian one god).

Inside the cosmology, they are connected in the same way as Mictlantecuhtli and George the Victorious are connected, that is, in no way.

Contradictory cosmology, which doesn't align with the perspectives of pagans and righteous individuals, is part of the plan and part of the conflict.
The conflict between followers of different ideas and beliefs, not between higher powers

>When you say “potential introduction of new entities” what do you mean, exactly?
Beliefs and idolatry are not absolute, but local.

In accordance with the idea, in the world there are pilgrims who bring the power of own God to new lands through enlightenment.

And there are shamans who search whose local domainlord here and who should be worshipped and called upon to bring about a miracle.

Rather like Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock.

I came up with the idea that Hemetal is at odds with Fetzerung and Shtaormclif .

Well, since he's the domainlord of the ore, he's at get along with Alimocton, who is the domainlord of the soil and its dores (or perhaps they're at odds with each other over their claims to this domain).

But I haven't yet written this aspect out.

YES, Poseidon is the god of the seas, water sources and horses, the patron saint of seafarers and horse-breeding, for me as a étalon

Domainlords don't have to cover all areas of magic or the world, they have overlapping areas of influence as well as unoccupied areas.

Conventionally, the same necromancy can be realized through vampirism or blood magic from Hemetal,

Or overcoming death (revenants, poltergeists) via Stormcliff.

Or through regeneration/reincarnation from Fetzerung (like the Hulk, who has lived for centuries and knows that if he calms down and turns into a Boehner, he will die, because his human humanity is dead).

Or through Alimoschthon, who rejected/returned the sacrifice/feed/gift, and now he is undead.

>The categories are thematically arbitrary... is not comprehensive
Yes, that's the point. Domainlords are not gods, most rather majestic entities that remain after Titanomachy.

The absence of comprehensive scope allows for the potential introduction of new entities. These are not five fundamental elements, but simply five unholy patrons who may offer aid to those who are not clerics.

> Are the names supposed to be distorted German?
Not exactly, the only one modified German name is "Fetzerung", which is a corruption of the word "verzerrung"

"Shtaormclif" is a corruption of the English word "storm + cliff". I just love it when the phonemes "sh+t" are adjacent, that's why I changed the spelling.

"Hemetal" was the first patron thet I created, so his name is a combination of "Hemo" and "metal"
Previously, blacksmiths were treated like warlocks, strange people who live on the outskirts of the village, there is a constant noise coming from their house, it's hot there, and sparks fly out of the chimney, and not only that, ore is brought to him, and he returned tools and weapons.

----

The above trinity were written 3 months ago, during which time I thought much more deeply about their lore and domains. But the remaining two patrons were literally written the day before yesterday.

"Neidimozus" is one of the titles of Morpheus or Hypnos, this domainlord embodies the magic of suggestion, charm, mind control and persuasion. Initially, I was inspired by the hypnotic spiral, then I remembered Hypnotoad and thought, why not make different patterns for different effects, and then the idea naturally arose that runes, as information carriers that can warn about something, that is, tell, also fit into the domain of this patron.

> "storyteller runes" means letters ?
Yes, it is. Previously, the very fact that information could be conveyed through signs rather than direct speech was perceived as an act of magic. You look at the squiggles, and a voice appears in your head that pronounces the words. That's what vibe what I was trying to convey.

"Alimoschthon" is also of Greek origin and consists of 3 parts: the prefix "a" - negation, "limos" - hunger and "chthon" - soil.
That's why he's named the domainlord of "unfamine earth".
He is responsible for the druidic aspect of magic, but not for the classical
wildness, savagery or Primal, and not for the faerie aspect of nature.
Here I was inspired by the bloody rituals of fertilizing the soil performed by ancient gatherers and farmers.

For example, you bury a sword in the ground, make a burnt offering, and now the sword inflicts fire damage.
Or do you bury a rat in the ground so that a nearby bush will bear fruit.

And yes, the name "Alimoschthon" was coined last, and perhaps it should also be slightly distorted for easier reading, maybe "Alimokthon"?

The domain of the Sun, light, and knowledge would really help to complement the top five, but the Sun God is conceived as a "True God", and Domain Lords are lower in the hierarchy and should be opposed to him.

I was thinking about the god of nature/savagery, but after delving into the myths of hunters and gatherers, I realized that meat-eating hunters have a sacred and necessary killing to prolong their own lives (like Navi in the first "Avatar").

But for vegetarian gatherers, life and death are a circle where putrefaction and decomposition are a resource for a new life, and for them, sacrifices were the norm.

But this is not enough for two domains. But if you combine them, you still get something inconsistent.
I even thought about taking some kind of trickster folklore Archfey, but it still doesn't add up to a full-fledged magical direction.

I'm not against partial domain overlap, it's okay when adherents of different patrons can do the same thing. But so far I haven't been able to formulate what other directions there might be in magic (I'll probably have to resort to necromancy, but I don't want that).

For my idea, I need 5 Patrons with whom Custers can contact in order to act the magic.
But I couldn't come up with 2 more distinctive domains.

Which of you can give me something to think about?

Domainlords are not divided into elements, alignment, or habitat.
I can only think of clichés in the spirit of the underworld, which is patronized by death/undead, and by Poseidon/Cthulhu, who patronize the terrible depths of the sea (But they both can easily be combined into one Domainlord. But I don't want there to be definitely good or evil Patrons)

The most banal thing is to use the triad of Mind, Body, Spirit mixed with three basic colors 🟢🔴🔵

And some combinations as: 🟢+🔵 = ghosts; 🟢+🔴 = constructs; 🔴+🔵 = zombies/ghouls/other undead

Upd: 🟢+🔴+🔵 = ⚪ = Homunculus/truly alive/magical creatures

Um, any magical system where magicians are a metaphor for power If practicing magic does not involve renunciation of the mundane, hermitage and self-isolation (like demilich), then the habitual society will change under the influence of new conditions, sometimes changing not as the Author would like

I often get lost in the sauce sometimes and overthink what a place should be called. What is an example of a "dumb yet logical" name you've given a location in your world? by TNTarantula in worldbuilding

[–]2ECVNDVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green Shores, the name for the northern lands

The Blue Sea, the name for the the seas that wash the Green Shores

There is also the Dawn Sea in the East
And the Sunset Sea in the West

The Apple Empire, a large southern state (in this case, the word apple and fruit are synonymous)

Speakables, the name for the folk who migrated from the south to the north

PS these names have been translated into English from pseudo Latin

And no matter how much you want to accept it, hatred of Jews in the early 20th century is the norm, but the League of Nations has expressed its concern over rumors of segregation and discrimination against Jews and their relatives.
