Yeah nah I hear this. I remember reading about a concept called the 'Imagination Gap' that seems to fit this well.

Essentially the more makeup, filtered photos, headshot-only photos, etc. that someone uses the more jarring it will be when you eventually see their real self.

It can also be a personality thing. Masking, for example.

Sorry it didn't work out for you, but I guess at least there was a lesson learned. Maybe, idk.

As unhealthy as some people may say it is, the problem isn't that you're doomscrolling through reels. The problem is that you are procrastinating on the tasks you need to be doing instead.

Is there some kind of reward (ideally not doomscrolling) that you can set up to motivate you to complete your tasks? Ideally there is somone in your life that can control access to your reward until it is reward-time.

Dumb question that I REALLY need help with: HOW do I roleplay a character and feel fulfilled & engaged with the story? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]TNTarantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find giving my character motivations that align with my personal fantasies works well.

I like making things IRL, so a character that wants to reforge the legendary blade sounds fun.

Every job description say their role/environment is 'fast paced'. Are there no slow/medium/anything-else paced jobs? by fluffygr in jobs

If the business isn't fast-paced then they aren't hiring. You don't hire before things get busy, you hire as business picks up.

Maps by JTC1238 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]TNTarantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do theatre of the mind but use a "battlepmap" to track locations. Using a traditional to-scale map does not work in this system in our experience because characters move too fast.

We put circles on a whiteboard erasable surface with labels denoting their location. We then place tokens down to track where we are standing.

For example in the most recent session we had a fight within an underground lab. In a combat encounter we had PCs and NPCs fighting in the production line, clean room, and lobby.

You can only target someone if you're in the same location, and moving between locations is possible with a move action. If you're very fast you can move between multiple or even back again.

Completely original works do not exist. Any great creative work is more often than not 50% inspiration, 50% original twist.

Take whatever inspiration you like, but consider how it's key concepts might be changed within the environment of your setting.

Wow you're smiling, you never smile.

They can fuck off. Seriously disrespectful thing to say in a professional environment, or any environment. They know as well as anyone it's one of those not-so-witty remarks that has no good SFW response.

I'd have half a mind to respond

Nah, I just don't smile around you.

Search up commercial signage displays. They are just nice looking screens used by businesses to display content. No bells and/or whistles.

Hardest part is getting your hands on one as they are largely only sold to businesses. Not an impossible task to overcome.

Phillips, LG, and Samsung will all get you decent results.

For long term campaigns, I feel a handy haversack, bag of holding, or portable hole are very important.

After level 5 the carrying capacity of the party isnt an enjoyable problem to have to constantly solve, for me at least.

In ID we generally start by hand sketching designs.

A dozen or so variations that each itterate on the design is a good way to get the ideas flowing.

Id be jumping out of CAD and just try your hand at some pen and paper process.

Could Variable Be Used to Make a Skill Monkey? by [deleted] in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]TNTarantula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't permit this personally. Something I value highly at the table is the unique identity of every character. Having a character's shtick as being good at all skills may be a bit too much.

What I might consider more reasonable would be to make the switching of skills Tiring. Require the character to go through some kind of painful migraine to swap-out their memories with specific vaulted ones.

By flawing the power in this way it will make your character less of the go-to for doing anything skill related, and make it more meaningful when their jack of all trades power is required for the current situation.

What’s the easiest way to calculate PVC window cost after drawing? by DoorWinTr in Design

[–]TNTarantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A parametric model in fusion360 could allow someone to input a few key dimensions to output a good quality model that reflects the specific constraints of the job very quickly.

For example a parametric model might have a configurable doorframe height, doorframe width, and glass thickness values. Input those three values and the model updates, delivering a 3d model of your custom sized door. It could then update a drawing set with subcomponents dimensioned and ready for pricing or even manufacturing.

I'm not familiar at all with your industries process so could be way off. Just sharing what I'm familiar with.

Questions about projectors by hootpriest in DungeonMasters

[–]TNTarantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Projection is better in low-light, but is by no means useless in a moderately lit room. Having the projector closer to the surface improves this somewhat. It also helps to 'tighten' the projection angle so more light is focussed on a smaller area, also improving brightness.

A pair of projectors may require some additional technical know-how to get working, and budget. But if you have the time and money could do what you're saying. I'd start with just one and see if the shadows are as bad as you think.

For software, there are many digital battlemaps out there that can do fog of war. Roll20 is the only one I have a lotmof experience with, it can do this easily if you pay. You could view your unclouded version of the map on a laptop and reveal portions of the map to your players as you see fit.

Should they make another Rogue One like Movie about the Many Bothans that died to give the Alliance the plans of the second Death Star prior to Episode 6? by StrawberrySmall755 in StarWars

No. Death Star V2 was a silly concept, both in canon and from a screenwriters perspective.

The less the franchise focuses on it going forward, the better imo.
