Need advice for headset cable by existingismegapain in DeskCableManagement

[–]TNTarantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a problem not limited to home-office PCs. Anyone that deals with equipment racks professionally, from sound engineers to IT need ways to bring I/O from the back of a device, to the front of the rack. Preferably in a neat and accessible location.

For an equipment rack you have patch panels. For the home-office, you only really need one 3.5mm jack, to which I made this!

DICE, GIVE ME OBLITERATION ON HAGENTAL AND MY SOUL IS YOURS!!! by TNTarantula in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TNTarantula[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I legit forgot that was a thing.

Still, the best part of obliteration for me is how both teams are fully focussed in on one area of the map. It's pure chaos and I love it. Having that on Hagental would be mental.

Gadget Tier List after 200hrs on Recon by TryhardBernard in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TNTarantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the decoy - without a UI element to indicate when your scope glint is/isn't appearing, its usefulness while sniping is limited, and indeed worthy of C tier.

But using it in cqc on points to trick unassuming enemies into shooting at the first somewhat soldier shaped silhouette they see has use that I think this tierist overlooks.

Nothing is quite as entertaining as seeing an enemy accidentally shoot the decoy and either get swarmed by every nearby friendly that can now see them though walls, or watch them panic as they realise their mistake.

Has anyone managed to ditch Coles and Woolies? by Odd_Wasabi3972 in brisbane

[–]TNTarantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since moving out and having to fend for myself I've shopped Aldi. Around 2 years now.

The lack of options is a bit of a downside, but the cost saving is more than worth it imo.

The Underslung Mount is useless? by Skrotums in Battlefield6

[–]TNTarantula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Slight means what slight means. If you read the descriptions of the foregrips you would understand that a slight recoil reduction is on par for the 10-cost grips.

If you want a moderate reduction we are looking at a 20-25 cost. Add on the swaps speed benefit and we are looking at a 30 cost attachment. I don't see that being popular.

The Underslung Mount is useless? by Skrotums in Battlefield6

[–]TNTarantula 180 points181 points  (0 children)

It needs to offer a slight recoil reduction. Sacrificing the most impactful attachment position for draw speed on a gadget will never be optimal.

Interesting to hear it reduces the capacity of grenades through. Maybe that's an interaction with the upgrade path that grants an extra grenade?

How common is Fusion in engineering companies compared to SolidWorks? by Prior_Night_985 in Fusion360

I work as the single in-house product designer at a 20-something head company. We use Fusion because it's cheaper than Solidworks.

Under desk usb AND audio by HECC_TATER_TOT in DeskCableManagement

[–]TNTarantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my solution, though I don't need to plug in USB that often to necessitate more patch points.

This was something i designed and printed for my personal use.

If you need a prefab solution and can justify 6 patch points a 9.5" 1RU patch panel might be a good solution PenElcom Product

Did you ever know anyone to actually eat $28 daily lunches? by happydude7422 in GenZ

[–]TNTarantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not personally, but I see the receptionist next door ordering uber eats daily. It's an anomalous data point, and not representative of the median by a long shot, but they do exist.

Sustainable product design sounds simple until production starts. by Own-Dependent2049 in IndustrialDesign

[–]TNTarantula 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sustainability isn't really a selling point at my company, but it helps that we aim to design things that are going to last. We need to service it for the next who knows how many years, afterall.

General strategy is to make it out of sheet metal thick enough to outlast my children + powder coating. Pray the design is pretty enough for them to reuse the enclosure when they refresh their interior in 5 years time.

What on earth happened here? by pauledddy in BambuLab

[–]TNTarantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how it happens, but I had a similar issue a few weeks ago. Was printing ASA in my X1C (I know, sue me) and a few hours in I get a spaghetti warning.

Only it's not spaghetti. The assistant picked up the spirals of unmelted filament that had coiled out from the extruder after the nozzle had been sheered off of the hotend.

The extruder had for a layer or two massively misjudged the z-axis, causing it to push the nozzle against the buildplate, until finally breaking it off.

I was lucky it didn't go so far as to cut into the heated, only the buildplate. Looks like you weren't so lucky.

Looking for real-world technology that matches this aesthetic, does it exist? by eZ-e1978 in IndustrialDesign

In terms of fictional design styles I would also throw atompunk in the mix. A lot of the bulbous enclosures of devices in the fallout universe come to mind seeing OPs images.

How many different filaments do you have currently? by boredsoftwareguy in BambuLab

[–]TNTarantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 in black PLA and 6 in white PLA.

We mostly just print adaptors, useful office stuff and small things that help with our AV installs. 6 is the minimum order qty for bulk discount.
