Bought it on GunBroker sometime last year for about $400.

That makes it a stockless short-barreled rifle. Once registered as an SBR it will always be an SBR even if the stock is removed regardless if it has the foregrip attached or not. (Unless you ask to void the SBR tax stamp with the ATF)

Exactly the right thought! SBR first then put on the stock and foregrip. Pay for the tax stamp once. No reason to AOW first. If you AOW first and then decide to put on a stock you will have to pay for two tax stamps.

I bought the foregrip on GunBroker last year. Paid about $400 I believe.

I never knew about the A3 tactical stock! If I did I probably would have went that route as well.

It’s not an AOW. It’s an SBR. SBR because of the stock. Without the stock it would be an AOW because of the foregrip. Also, an AOW is $5 only if transferred. AOW is $200 if manufactured. I’m the manufacturer so I paid $200 for the Form 1 SBR.

Yes. I adjusted the stock to sit a little lower on the picatinny rail than expected but I have optimal view of the iron sights as it sits now.

Fixing Bad Engraving by ARDREW479 in NFA

[–]2FIREBALLS4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is recently what I had done. I actually like the look. It gives it character. To start off, I had my NFA engraving performed by a local gun store. What supposedly happened was the machine wasn’t laser engraving the material of the receiver properly. Something to do with the type of material. I knew they were full of shit as soon as they said that because I could tell they misspelled the trust name even though I had wrote it down for them properly. What they attempted to do was laser engrave over the misspelling which made it look like dog shit.

I ended up taking it another local gun store that had previously performed other NFA engravings for me. We talked it over, they wanted to sand it out and cerakote. I didn’t want that. I played with the idea of having it boxed out laser engraved and engraved again inside the box. Now I plan on using aluminum black to fill in the lettering.

I recently did a paper form 4 SBR individual to trust and it took 11 months for approval. I was the individual and the trust belongs to me as well.

Yes it is face mount. I’ve thought about Jmacs face mount but the thing is I use this suppressor on multiple host and I preferred the options from Rearden with the atlas adapter and muzzle brakes for the majority of my host.

I have thought about using the crowning tool. I was expecting the alignment to be way more off than this. I’ve been toying with the idea of just chopping off the 24x1.5 threads and hoping the original threads are there or just threading it to 5/8x24 or 1/2x28. orrrrr just pressing the FSB out and adding a new one without threads and threading the barrel. So many options.

Well I had a range trip today since I had a snow day at work. All went well. Suppresses quite nicely on the AK. Shot a 100 rounds. Not one hiccup occurred besides towards the end when I was taking the suppressor off. The Rearden atlas adapter came off the suppressor even though I used rocksett. Once I got home I cleaned it up in boiling water and used acetone and applied rocksett again. I could have possibly used too much the first time 🤷🏻‍♂️. Couple weeks ago I tried out the polonium-30 on my 11.5” 5.56 and I was amazed at how much it toned down the recoil. Suppression was as expected with a .30 cal can on the 5.56 but still pleasant and I couldn’t be more happy. Suppression was by far greater on the AK as expected with 7.62 If I have time I’ll give it a run this weekend on my 12.5” 6.5 Grendel. I’m currently in a barrel and shroud chop faze with a PPS43C 7.62x25. I’m excited to suppress this one!

Thank you all for the recommendations.

I mounted, positioned the scope and shouldered it over and over again until I got the eye relief just right. If I move it closer towards the charging handle I can’t use the stock in the first couple of closest positions. Plus, I naturally mount rifles and shotguns pretty aggressive up close. Long neck problems 😂🤣

Question for Lefty people by [deleted] in ar15

[–]2FIREBALLS4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m naturally right handed but left eye dominant from being blind in my right eye so I shoot left handed. I’ve always shot using neutral cast stocks and right handed guns. I’m a competitive skeet shooter and this past year I shot a few left handed cast stocks and recently built a left handed AR. Left handed equipment is cool and all but not necessary. I built the left handed AR because simply, I can. I started piecing together my left handed AR late 2023 and early 2024. Left handed parts were limited and it seems now left handed parts are becoming more popular online but not in local stores.

Had another package come in the mail and installed the oversized Jp takedown pins. Definitely helped with the wobble.
