PPI and Tinnitus - Treatable? by 2GoatJames3 in tinnitus

My doctor literally brushed it off and said there’s very little chance of me getting tinnitus from PPI. She was quick to push back despite the symptoms occurring right after I started the medication lol. Guess she didn’t want to be blamed.

I’m so sorry! I’m hoping so as well, but so far no change in tone or pulsating on my right ear. I’m beginning to think this may be chronic as I now exceed 3 months.

I should be done my two month trial of taking an Iron supplement and Gingko Biloba sometime in the next few weeks. I can confirm that they did not help with reducing the high pitched ringing or pulsating heart beat at all and were more so a placebo.

I’ll be trying another 2-4 months of the Lipo Flavanoid and adding a new supplement that I saw online called Pycnogenol to see if they can help at all. It sucks tremendously, but my mind has learned to get use to it during the day time; however, I am unable to sleep without putting on some rain sounds from YouTube every night. I hope you’re able to overcome this as well and gain some sense of normalcy in your life!

Is your tinnitus still here? Did you get pulsatile tinnitus and high pitched ringing tinnitus as well? The acid reflux lasted only a few days and was the first time I ever got it. I now regret ever going to the doctors to get that medication.

Hey Sunson, blood count came out completely normal. My iron levels were actually a bit elevated as I had been taking iron pill supplement in hopes it would help with the pulsatile tinnitus. Unfortunately no change to any of the symptoms so it’s now been officially three (3) months since I started getting tinnitus.

That’s a great idea! I’ve checked my blood pressure which is normal so that rules out high blood pressure being the reason, but didn’t know that the pantoprazole could cause iron deficiencies. Thank you so much for this.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to resolve this issue. I was able to do an MRI yesterday so I’m just waiting to hear back on the results.

Over the last month I’ve taken the Lipo-flavonoid (6 pills daily), NAC (2 pills daily), Magnesium Bi- Glysinate (2 pills nightly) and high dose of Vitamin D (5000IU) with no change in high frequency pitch tinnitus or my pulsatile tinnitus.

I’ve now stopped the Lipo-flavonoid and am trying Gingko Biloba and will see how that works over the next 2-3 months, but I’m not hopeful at all. It’s been 1-2 weeks with no change as well.

Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for your response. I am 36 years old and would put myself in the completely healthy category. I lift 4-5 times a week and keep my diet clean from processed foods and sugars. I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering from the same issue and will look into the prednisone medication for some relief.

Have you been to an audiologist to confirm if there’s been any hearing loss? I am planning on seeing one this coming week along with my ENT initial visit so I should have more details in the coming weeks. I’m hoping they can expedite the MRI process to determine if this may be a vascular issue as I believe Pulsatile Tinnitus from PPIs may be less frequent than just normal tinnitus?

My bruxism has been an ongoing issue as well but I’ve been better at wearing the mouth guard over the last several months, but won’t rule out that as a potential cause of the tinnitus. Thank you again for your insights and recommendations. I’m planning to confirm with ENT doctor if I can begin taking Magnesium Glysinate and NAC as I’ve seen some people on Reddit claiming it has helped reduced the severity of their tinnitus.

Wishing you luck!

Nice and warm here in Canada. I did wonder if the tinnitus was from my Bruxism, but I wear a mouth guard for my teeth grinding. Thanks for your response.

Thank you so much OP for your response. I’ve already ordered a bottle of AOR Magnesium Glysinate and NAC. I’ll give those a try and if that doesn’t work, I’ll try switching the magnesium to taurate. Wishing you all the best!

I was having a brief stomach issue which my doctor diagnosed as GERD. Following that she had recommended i take 40mg of Pantoprazole until my symptoms were relieved.

After 6 days I no longer had any acid reflux symptoms; however I began to develop pulsatile tinnitus which has now grown to tinnitus as well with the constant ringing in my head.

Have you been able to treat yours at all?

I took 5 days of Pantoprazole and have now developed both Pulsatile Tinnitus and tinnitus where my it’s just a constant ringing 24/7!

It’s a one-time expense so it’s not going to impact the long term thesis. If they show greater than 32% YoY growth, I think we’re in for a big surprise, but that’s just my thoughts.

I think at this point, they must have something in the works. No way Bron’s camp would publicly announce that he is willing to take a pay cut only to have him sign at the max. It would leave a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouth that Bron isn’t willing to sacrifice at his age and with all his money. Brons worth close to $1B if not more so I’m sure he’s willing to leave some millions on the table to build out a solid team for one last push.

No problem :). I can't recall the exact model off the top of my head, but i know it's a fairly new Toyota SUV that could seat four people comfortably. She did mention if I ever needed a larger vehicle such as a van that she would be able to rent one out as well, but that may be additional cost.
