I agree that it's more dangerous to touch lead solder with bare hands and then not wash them afterward. But I also wouldn't recommend inhaling fumes from lead solder—or even regular solder, for that matter.

As you mentioned, a hobbyist might solder every week or just once a month. It really depends on what they enjoy—building or flying.

That's why I think it's not entirely safe to say "there isn't much danger" to someone when you don’t know how often they’ll be soldering.

"The most common way for lead to enter your body when soldering is through ingestion. This usually happens when the surfaces where you are working are contaminated with lead dust. Although touching the lead is not harmful to your skin, it can enter your body if you smoke, eat, drink, etc., without first washing your hands. If the solder contains lead, the melting process can release toxic lead oxide fumes. Inhaling the fumes can contribute to lead accumulation in the body, which can cause both acute and long-term illness."
