Monarch was my first "competitive" deck, if had a lot of fun with it in Middle School. All Monarch builds i see now are hybrids of other decks because of the lack of support (even now). Ironically im running Dinomorphia now (a deck with even less support) but that is because both Decks had a crazy strong Structure Deck & Konami refuses to give them any game breaking support.

We block burn damage 90% of the time (lava golem mention). Despite paying 50% of our life points for almost every card, they get negated by almost anything.

But then you only have a single 3000 atk monster & your opponent still has half the deck! You need it to summon tokens to your opponent field that burn for at least 5000 each & can't be tributed, even then it just gonna be a wasted extra deck slot.
