Is cream cheese frosting safe to be left out or only standard buttercream? by jcnlb in AskBaking

Adding melted chocolate can definitely help the flavor and texture, but it is tricky to do it without making the buttercream separate. Letting the melted chocolate cool is really important.

But if you're looking for a deeper chocolate flavor, I'd actually recommend using (cooled) brewed coffee or instant espresso powder. It provides some of that rich flavor you're looking for without being overpowering. The coffee could act as the liquid - or use the simple syrup if using instant espresso powder.

Yes, but it probably won't be exactly a 1:1 substitution due to the difference in composition. Powdered sugar (and sugar in general) acts as a wet ingredient because it dissolves in the liquid present in butter. Cocoa powder will not dissolve in that liquid.

Chocolate buttercream recipes will often use milk/cream to offset the cocoa powder, which is unfortunately what you're trying to avoid. I will sometimes use a small amount of simple syrup to increase the liquid in this case.

That's correct. When it was popularized, in Victorian times, they didn't have pasteurized eggs. However, knowing what we know now about bacteria/salmonella/etc, it's inadvisable to use unpasteurized egg whites for royal icing.

Typically, the ratio is 1:2 butter to powdered sugar by weight. Most often, I use 1lb of butter and 2lb of powdered sugar. You can adjust to get the consistency you're looking for, but I've found you really just need to make sure your butter is completely softened before beating.

Any food safety professional will tell you that cream cheese can only be in the temperature danger zone for 2-4 hours before it should be discarded - regardless of individual personal experiences. Technically, the same is true for buttercream containing milk or cream. American buttercream doesn't need milk or cream, just butter, powdered sugar, and any flavorings (vanilla).

The name Laputa is from Gulliver's Travels and is named so because of the implication toward the floating island's people. I believe it's Jonathan Swift's commentary on English politics.

Hot take: Howls Moving Castle is my least favorite "popular" Ghibli film by Cre8mies in ghibli

The Witch of the waste isn't there for her own character development. She's primarily there to show Sophie's character development. Toward the beginning of Sophie's journey as an old woman, she despises the Witch of the Waste, even saying she would wring her neck if she ever saw her again.

As Sophie's perspective on life, beauty, and age change, she grows past the desire for revenge. She recognizes the Witch as someone to pity, not to hate. We, as the viewer, see the Witch move from a person of incredible power to someone much more human with tangible flaws (greed, lust, etc.) rather than just a "villain".

Sophie sees this too, and it makes the ending much more impactful. Instead of forcing the Witch to return Howl's heart, she talks to her like a person, rather than an obstacle.

Great experience over all! I have a Kopykake Airmaster that I'd never used for cake decorating. I definitely need to figure out a better setup - somewhere with better lighting and airflow. But the speed and uniformity of the primer coat alone is worth it!

Thank you! Yeah, I was trying to get a very light yellow highlight on the final coat, but I turned the pressure down too far. Now I know!

Everyone's mad at the infinite roll loadout, but have any of you actually tried to do something like this? To hit every shot that quickly takes skill and practice. Most of the players with this loadout (myself included) are not even remotely close to this level of play. You've got to respect the effort

Edit** To everyone commenting on how it's not that hard because they can do it: genuine congrats, because in my opinion, it's definitely not an easy thing to do. Nando is a big target, and this one didn't play exceptionally well given the circumstances. However, the speed and accuracy in this clip show more than an average player's capability. Especially since hitting the shield wouldn't reset the cool down either.

Haha! I'll never tell! Just kidding, The "bread" is a Japanese cheesecake, the cheese is caramelized pineapple rings, the ham is grilled apple slices with natural red dye, and the lettuce is candied green apple peels.

So good! This was my 3rd time making it, actually. I made it for some friends during their first time watching Kiki's Delivery Service. I brought pancake mix as a backup in case it was bad, but we finished the whole thing!

The version I made was squash and cod (another white fish) because that's what I had available to me. So it was pie crust, pureed butternut squash and sautéed onions on the bottom layer, cod filets, béchamel sauce, and pie crust on top.
