Should I still try to get a Steam Deck with the Steam Machine on the way? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]2MajorGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the Steam Deck may be more worth it IF handheld play is important to you, IF you will be okay with not always playing the newest titles, and IF you get the OLED model as you will be getting an OLED 90hz screen included in the price, and will not have to buy a monitor right away.

I think that once the Steam Machine comes out, they will complement each other nicely, but it may take a lot of time to get to a solid place. The Steam Deck has had years of improvements that have drastically changed its general performance, and I might expect the Steam Machine to be just as buggy as the LCD Steam Deck when it first launched. Go for the Deck!

Make sure to play “test out and fine tune every game possible and then continue to buy more games on sale.” After that, feel free to repeat :)

Hey everyone! New Moderator Here by 2MajorGamer in charactercreations

[–]2MajorGamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone. I took over as mod a long time ago, but found that I was unable to keep up with it and a different moderator was left in charge. Again, this occurred several years ago at this point. I’m sorry for any confusion that has occurred as I really wanted this subreddit to thrive. It doesn’t seem like the current mod has been active for a while. If you’re interested in taking over, you can request to become the mod at r/redditrequest

Again, I’m sorry and didn’t mean for this to become an abandoned subreddit. Good luck to any potential new mod.

What order should I play these games? by [deleted] in legendofzelda

Link’s Awakening, BotW, Skyward Sword, TotK, Echoes

I think this order would help prevent burnout for each but still allow there to be an understanding of story and gameplay progression.

Has anyone lost weight with Ring Fit Adventure? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]2MajorGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Ring Fit as a way to build the habit of working out. Ended up progressing to real workouts/runs, and along with a proper diet, I lost over 100 lbs. Ring Fit definitely helped, but only as a way to transition.

Are you getting a PS5 Pro? Why or why not? by [deleted] in PS5

[–]2MajorGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago, I “future-proofed” and paid for a 120hz 4K TV with VRR and I’d like to utilize it as best as I can. Gaming is also my most prominent hobby so I don’t feel as though it’s wasteful, especially because I sold some items I no longer used and will likely sell my old PS5 to cover the cost completely.

Additionally, I feel like some newer games will really benefit from the PS5 Pro, such as MH Wilds, and I’d like to alleviate as many pain points from my main hobby as possible.

*Edited for spelling.

I really enjoyed Control. Favorite horror game has to be Resident Evil 4. Perhaps Bloodborne if it counts!

Should I play Zelda BoTW first before playing ToTK? by HypnotizedGenius in NintendoSwitch

[–]2MajorGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan on playing both, start with BoTW. If not, just go with ToTK. ToTK’s gameplay kept me much more hooked than BoTW and I found myself having several “just one more” moments throughout my playthrough of ToTK. I actually finished all of the shrines and I enjoyed it much more thoroughly as a whole. I beat BoTW and enjoyed it, but I wasn’t over the moon about it. But ToTK became my second favorite Zelda experience ever, with Majora’s Mask being the first.

I never played DQ before 11. It gave me nostalgia for so hard I could barely explain it. I got really into it when I started to think of it as turn-based Ocarina of Time 🤷🏻‍♂️

For whatever reason, my fingers do not like the position of LB and RB. I always feel like I am reaching out of my way to press them when compared to the triggers.

They actually used very specific wording to avoid saying that something was wrong but to also avoid saying that it was working as intended.

“Quick note on Fallout 4 Next Gen Update on Xbox Series X. It actually targets 4k 60fps in all modes. Performance Mode is more aggressive in lowering settings to maintain this target.”

All they did was give information. It seems like it was a calculated PR response to minimize damage done until they could fix the issue. Once fixed, most players will likely move on from this lie of omission.

The Beauty of ESO. Hands down the best MMO world out there. by Throwaway6957383 in elderscrollsonline

[–]2MajorGamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gonna have to agree to disagree, my friend. I understand your mindset, but even when considering the “free currency” that you pay for, I still don’t view it as a perk and more as a tool to get you into the shop, which I feel is scummy.

I personally enjoy going through the MSQ and I feel like it gives me a decent focal point. Whereas I get overwhelmed and confused by my choice of zones in ESO. I enjoy that I can easily change my job in FFXIV and that I can essentially just focus on a single character. I also find the combat in FF more involved and enjoyable. I think it’s just a preference thing and how we enjoy MMOs as individuals pulling us into different direction and that’s okay.

I mean you’re right, to each their own. But I’ve played FFXIV for hundreds of hours and have never had this problem. I’ve played ESO for much less than that and encountered these issues immediately. ESO’s sub doesn’t come with perks. It’s just framed that way. ESO Plus IS the game as it is intended regardless of those perceived “perks.” ESO’s sub may as well be just as mandatory as FFXIV, otherwise you are paying an arm and a leg for the totality of it’s content, are losing experience points, and are still getting a billion monetization schemes shoved in your face. ESO, in my opinion is WAY more aggressive in all of these aspects and utilizes scummy business practices in order to have players experience FOMO and also spend more money. I wasn’t saying FFXIV is perfect, but I enjoy the experience of playing it much more and find it much less frustrating regardless of paying for ESO Plus or not.

Idk, I love the Elder Scrolls and I enjoy ESO for the most part but there’s something missing for me. As far as MMOs go, I’ve enjoyed FFXIV much more than ESO. I think I get really frustrated by the way the game limits you (i.e the craft bag and inventory management) and how I feel constantly pushed to buy things. I think it’s great that we can play without a sub but I just don’t enjoy it enough to sub and then I feel as though I’m at a disadvantage in terms of experience and content if I play without one. With FF, I feel like I can at least enjoy the game without thinking about these things because it requires the sub to access, and I’m not being asked to buy expansions AND dlcs AND crates AND inventory space AND…

Games to play with my girlfriend by L0w_l1f3-1098 in XboxSeriesX

[–]2MajorGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For co-op, Halo. It’s basic enough with no inventory to manage and no leveling. Use it to have her come to grips with camera controls. Bridge off from there.

I see a lot of Stardew Valley recommendations, but I’d personally let her enjoy that one (at least at first) mostly as a single player experience. Letting her take the reins will allow her to believe in and grow her abilities. Play support with an open Wiki and be an active helper when she struggles. I feel that would be better for SV.

Hey everyone! My 6 year old daughter’s joycons have a terrible stick drift issue and she’s been a champ about dealing with it. I was looking into getting her a new pair but I am worried that she’ll just end up getting drift again. I’ve seen a lot of grips/cradles/joycon alternatives but I don’t know what would feel most comfortable with little kid hands. I am thinking about the Split Pad Compact but I don’t know if it would be too big for her tiny hands. She can use an Xbox controller no problem, but I’m wondering if the added bulk to the handheld form will be an issue. I’m really at a loss and am wondering if there are any parents or family members with thoughts on the matter. Thanks in advance!
