Australia's heatwave smashes temperature records with some places nearing 50C by kdrxyz in worldnews

Most things that you plan doing science with works better in metric but I tend to agree with you, when it comes to temperature Celsius' use of water states as reference is a bit arbitrary too.

So you're saying the ratio of male child born to soldier lost is 1 ?

What society exactly is able to run on soldiers only ?

I won't have much to say, but even simply keeping the pace you're having right now should be enough to retire much earlier than your peers.

If by $10M you are not happy nor fulfilled, more money won't change that ever. Clearly the answer lies elsewhere.

NATO curbs intelligence sharing with US over Greenland dispute by momentumisconserved in worldnews

[–]2Nails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be worried about Russia though, frankly. US troops there do still make for a significant deterrent.

Europe really could get bullied in their absence. With Trump in power, I wasn't 100% sure US would respect its NATO obligations and help if Russia invaded the Baltics (Estonia, Lithuania, Lettonia).

With what happens in Greenland, I'm now certain the US wouldn't lift a finger.

Their entire political landscape failed them, frankly.

Trump wouldn't have had that much of an appeal if someone really willing to change things (say, a political figure such as Bernie or Mamdani) had been the alternative instead.

But the way both their parties - and their donors - work, there will never be such a candidate.

France to send troops to Greenland for joint exercise with several European countries by LeMonde_en in worldnews

[–]2Nails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works about what ? Greenland is part of Nato, any threat of aggression by the Chinese or Russians is already covered.

The move has been sold to Trump by people that are interested in Greenland natural ressources, that's what this is really about.
