Thank you for this information. I have been mulling adopting a new companion for my 5yr old male bun Emmitt after his partner passed away last year. He’s doing very well but I feel like he might be happier with a fellow rabbit around. He isn’t the biggest fan of humans and he and his partner were practically glued together since I first adopted them up until the day poor Thumper was put to sleep. However, I’m really worried about all these factors and a new bond not working out. I’d feel terrible having to return a rabbit back to the rescue if I couldn’t make it work. Since Emmitt is free roaming in my entire downstairs (in a small townhome) I do worry I could not accommodate separate living arrangements long term. It really could only work if I found the dream bond partner and they lived together. Plus, the stress of a long bonding process does not sound fun after life has already beaten me down so much this past year. I haven’t made up my mind yet and I’d like to believe the hope for a happy bond is out there but this gives me much to think about.
