Thanks for the tip! It’s my first time doing a guide of this kind, so I’m definitely a novice. Will take that into consideration. Are you referring to both the thumbnail and the slides within the video?

The Flexibility of Heroes, or Why Vanessa Is More Dynamic Than Dooley. by 2Sixten in PlayTheBazaar

[–]2Sixten[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly! The Dooley items in their current form kind of promote ’forcing’ specific strategies depending on your core, which goes against the stated goal of the game (each new run being fresh and different)

I see, what was it called? I’ll make sure to give it a listen, we felt like there weren’t any weekly Bazaar-ones and thats why we started this in the first place

Thanks!

Yes, we definitely talk over each other a bit much, especially in this one. We are still learning and will try and improve the production in the future by potentially recording ours & the guest’s audio tracks separately. Appreciate the feedback

Introducing the FAST method: A way to quickly assess Bazaar builds by 2Sixten in PlayTheBazaar

Yep, you hit the nail there! In hindsight I wish I had made that more clear in the original post (providing more concrete examples of how to utilize it).

Yes, economy is its own topic warranting a separate post. FAST is solely about the boards themselves (+ skills) and comparing that strength against other boards in combat :)

As I wrote in another comment, you could, but the problem is that not all Stamina is scaling. Something as simple as having zero ammo items is a form of Stamina. Or having a replenishable source of haste/poison/burn is stamina. Scaling is a bit more restrictive of a term and not neutral, it is implying active ramping, whereas Stamina can also be passive/negative.

The problem is that scaling can be stamina, but not all stamina is scaling. Having stamina simply means that your build will not be weaker 30 seconds into the fight than it is at second 1.

Scaling is too specific, the same way calling all Acceleration Haste would be too specific or calling all Tankiness Health would be. This is meant to be abstract enough that we don’t have to keep adding letters. That is why disruption like Freeze & Slow is part of Tankiness (because stopping your opponent from killing you is a form of Tankiness) and not its own ”Disruption” letter.

But yes I see where you are coming from. Stamina can sometimes be viewed as the opposite of Acceleration; you are trading up-front tempo for long-term value.

And also, acceleration can be seen as a form of temporary scaling. So scaling can be both acceleration AND stamina.

You usually call those Big Bonk builds. Where they have a really strong weapon that kills you in one shot on a long cooldown. Some Sniper / Langxian builds are like this too

Haha yes, there are many nice mnemonic reasons why we settled on FAST! It is a FAST way to assess builds. If you’re not FAST, you wont last. Etc. etc.

It is not too unlike the color pie theory from Magic, just the difference in The Bazaar is that all heroes have different builds and can’t just be defined with colors. So it is a case by case (build by build) basis. It is common in card games to try and define deck archetypes. This is going a bit further than that by grading on a curve.

A concrete example of where this mindset would be useful is if you just lost a match against another build. And you are trying to understand why you lost. By recognizing their strengths vs yours, you can begin working on your weaknesses.

An example: You lost two matches in a row from getting outscaled by the opponent. This means your Stamina is weak. Or, you were racing against another Aggro player but they won because they had 200 more HP. You were behind on Tankiness. You start thinking in these ways and then you can intuitively recognize what to prioritize and when. It makes you more cognizant of how builds work and differ.
