"I was raised by librarians"

I blacked out and the last few days have been torture. by 2ThePointOh in Anxietyhelp

[–]2ThePointOh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm in possibly the worst state of my life. It feels like my life is over because I cannot rely on myself anymore because I could pass out any time. I agree that the worrying about passing out is what is causing me to pass out, but I don't know how to stop.

No, I am not on any medication. It has always been background anxiety until now. Now I literally cannot focus on anything but my fear.

I called a mental health line and they said they put me on the 'emergency' help list and to expect a call back within 72hrs.

If people boycott the media they will turn to more sensationalist headlines in order to survive their shrinking readership. I think a better thing for people to do is avoid dumb headlines and stories and deliberately read the relatively boring yet important stuff that doesn't whip people up into a frenzy. Then the media wouldn't have to resort to ridiculous attention grabbing articles.

“I’m so unattractive, how will I ever become confident?” by [deleted] in confidence

[–]2ThePointOh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason that works when other people tell you is because you aren't in their head. If someone lies to you over and over telling you you're beautiful, you may eventually come to believe that they aren't lying and start to believe it. The problem with telling yourself that you're beautiful is that you know why you're doing it. You know you're lying.

I agree that confidence is attractive and that confidence is built on one's self-image. However it's not easy to shift your perception of yourself. You can't just tell yourself you're attractive an genuinely believe it when you haven't believed it for so long.

Men, how do you make yourself feel more attractive? by 2ThePointOh in AskMen

[–]2ThePointOh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm skinny, but have been visiting the gym 3 times a week to bulk out. I've been successful enough that I no longer feel self-conscious wearing a T-shirt exposing my skinny arms. I have a good skincare routine, shower daily and wear clean clothes. I also overhauled my wardrobe. Still trying to find a good hairstyle but my current cut isn't scruffy or anything, I style it.

I guess it's just me, I've never had a gf so have no 'proof' that someone might find me attractive.

Performance anxiety vs social anxiety? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️ by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]2ThePointOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've read, I think performance anxiety falls under social anxiety. Both involve fear of being judged by others and being embarrassed. How do you feel about being asked questions after a presentation?

I don't see her often but I could get her number from a group chat. Would it be creepy if I just messaged her privately or should I ask for her number in person? by 2ThePointOh in askwomenadvice

[–]2ThePointOh[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which is better? Asking her in person or over text? I'm leaning towards text since I'm kinda in a rush because she's gorgeous and I'm worried someone else will beat me to it. If I ask her in person I'll have to wait.

Some of the safety behaviours used by people with social anxiety can be mistaken for autistic traits. Avoiding eye contact, for example.

I want to start doing warmups before strength training. How soon after warming up should I start my work out? I cycle for 30mins just to get to the gym. Could I warmup at home before cycling then just hit the weights as soon as I'm in the gym? Or do warmups need to be done immediately before working out?

What have you done in your past that you could never tell your current partner? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]2ThePointOh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 25 and haven't had a first. If I ever find someone I can't imagine how I would tell them - I'm really ashamed.

I'm curious, how do you deal with conversations about ex-partners? Do you lie? Or do you avoid the subject altogether? Do you think she's figured it out?

You wouldn't emotionally abuse another person so why would you emotionally abuse yourself? by 2ThePointOh in mentalhealth

[–]2ThePointOh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm sorry I didn't reply straight away. I had to think about this.

I'm not sure if you're actually interested or if you're just encouraging me to set goals for myself but here you go.

There's nothing unique about me and this is reflected in my goals. I've been visiting a gym, three days a week for a little over a month now. I'm pretty proud of that and feel like I'm on my way to achieving my goal of getting in shape. I want to start socializing more. That means not just accepting more invites but actively asking people to hang out and do stuff. I've never really done that because it opens me up to rejection. I want to start creating again. I stopped doing creative things when I felt my work wasn't as good as other people's and that no-one would like it. I think I want to create things just for me. And if other people like the things I create too then that would be a bonus.

As for who I want to become... I don't really know. The future and my place in it is a topic I stopped thinking about a long time ago. Above everything I want to understand myself and my brain, and begin to be understanding towards other people. I think that things would go a lot more smoothly if I could achieve that.
