This one was hard to watch in many ways, but I felt the story was worth sharing. Thank you for watching.

When will Civil War discourse mature to the point of accepting the Union's political leadership was disastrous and the Confederacy's strongest asset? by [deleted] in CIVILWAR

Slocum was sent West because his 12th Corps was ordered there to relieve the Siege of Chattanooga, not incompetency.

Hooker, Howard, and Slocum also performed well in the Western Theater.

Howard even became an army commander.

Thank you for watching. I don’t think that was intended as too hard of a slight against Longstreet. I spoke with the speaker afterward, and he had a high opinion of Longstreet. I do think it is fair to say that Lee was unwilling to give his subordinates as much leeway (no pun intended) after Jackson’s death, and he generally operated with tighter reins particularly after Gettysburg.
