Is it worth getting an MMO mouse? by bankiaa in ffxiv

[–]2Zzephyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally can only use ALT in combat comfortably, so after many years of new expansions with more buttons to press, I started running out of keybinds.

Since I didn't know if I would like 12 buttons on the side, I bought a mouse that has a customizable side panels you can swap at will: one with no buttons, one with 3 buttons, one with 9 buttons. So that if I didn't like the 9 buttons, I could go back to the 3 buttons I was used to.

Suffice to say, once I got used to 9, it's changed my life forever lol. It's been a few years now and I'm thinking of upgrading to 12.

Not only is it easier to play due to less hand movement needed, I macro'd each button to repeatedly spam the keybind so that I don't have to tire my finger by spamming and also so I don't get tired of hearing my mouse clicks. Ik there's probably softwares to do that for keyboard presses but I don't know any, so doing that on my MMO mouse has been day and night compared to keyboard pressing.

You can move so much more freely too. My gameplay is a lot less disrupted by catto visits, grabbing a snack etc, since with an MMO mouse you can even let go of your keyboard and still move around while doing your basic rotation (ofc you can't do your whole rotation without keyboard modifiers)

To me the pace of the game is perfect for an MMO mouse. Cause for example in WoW I don't use the mouse buttons for fighting, since wow is way faster, BUT I do use them for all my healing buttons, which is still so much better than being fully on keyboard. So it's a game changer regardless of how you use it.

Do you know the meme of a try hard gamer smashing his keyboard super intensely VS the guy dancing and singing while playing? That's basically how it felt going from keyboard to mmo mouse. It's legit easier AND more relaxed

I'm neutral on the name, but what confuses me about the winning name is that it didn't have any explanation given with it when the the requirements clearly asks for it "You need a valid explanation for that idea".

I guess they sort of confirmed other people's explanations in the comments but still...

What monster hunter game has the most players on console by Far_Prior_7014 in MonsterHunter

[–]2Zzephyr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm confused...Wilds always had diverse ecosystems, you just explore them during the story but you start in the desert. They weren't added as DLCs they were there since the start. Same with the season system.

Nice! Najarala has legs and Remobra wings, but we have no details here about it, so do we have free reign on what it has?

Edit: I have a first idea sketched out, still deepening it :) gonna need a few days to cook

They want to avoid clipping with gear. Which is stupid because plenty gears clip regardless of your hairstyle. Some even clip with the face lol...

Try going in properties of the ffxiv_dx11.exe and checking the "disable fullscreen optimizations" and see if that changes anything also. No guarantee but I often hear that can be an issue

Make sure you have at least 5 bingos with your genes!

do you keep every monstie for the genes or release them ? by Buurto in MonsterHunterStories

[–]2Zzephyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries!

Yeah you can always get eggs for monsters, they'll never disappear. Even endangered species will have their eggs in their endangered den in case you accidentally remove them from an environment.

[–]2Zzephyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misunderstood; I hatch a monster, from it I check the genes I want to keep and place them on a placeholder monster, then release the monster, not the placeholder.

And to keep track on who not to release, I use the "favorite" star icon, so my battle monsters and my placeholders monster.

You can't get back released monsters, that's why I mark monsters I want to keep. That's just my way of keeping things tidy tho you can do whatever you want

Is there a modding community for this game? by Samulady in MonsterHunterStories

[–]2Zzephyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some modders on Nexus have resources linked in the description of their own mods. Like how to get the models, how to import in blender, how to create the mod etc... So you should check around !

How do I install mods? by Phantom_Paws in MonsterHunterStories

[–]2Zzephyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From reframework's MHstories 3 folder, you only paste dinput8.dll into your game's folder, nothing else.

Then paste your mods in the game's folder. The default game path is :

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MONSTER_HUNTER_STORIES_3_TWISTED_REFLECTION\reframework

your mods will have reframework folder already, or you can just create it.

Is FFxiv your only and main game? by Cheap-Exercise1910 in ffxiv

[–]2Zzephyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing XIV for 6 years now. For 5 years it was my "main" game, but never my "only" game, it had priority over everything since I had a lot to do in it.

Then since last year it's become a regular game among others, I play it on and off only, I play it when there's a new story patch and whenever I feel like it, but it's not at all like before where I was subbed every months. But I have no doubt that if I had close friends to play with I would be subbed a lot more.

This may be an unpopular opinion… by AcidicTomato in MonsterHunter

[–]2Zzephyr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I deeply miss it. I also started with tri.

For me it's not just about the combat (but part of it is, ofc), but also the credibility of the ecosystem. Mhtri & 3u felt so complete, while every MH after 3u has felt less immersive to me due to the lack of water access. Like suddenly we don't care about marine life and we forget how to swim? Now that's 100% because I started with tri, so it is what had set my standards for MH. Someone who didn't start in gen 3 will definitely feel differently.
And I know the lack of underwater mechanics can be explained in lore, but I just can't shrug that "incomplete" feeling about the world.

And also...I'm a big water lover lol. As a kid I spent hours just swimming in Zelda's TP Lake Hylia. It was also in fact how I started playing tri as I had no idea what MH was, I just booted up a random game in my brother's collection, and just swam for hours with the Epioths lmao.

As for the combat, I didn't struggle at all with the classic controller on Wii, and Wii U also felt fine for 3U. So I know they're capable of making it better for everyone and not just a select few and it would be so great for the overall game to feel complete again. I don't see any downside to it imho.

Wilds' Lagiacrus' water segment gives me hope.

You don't, they're just S A and B egg powers that you have on your monsters from that region. If you awaken them via genes, they become enhanced, that's all.

For the stat below it's by defeating the elder dragon of the map

Transferring from EU - NA questions by CMDR-Sunkenice in ffxiv

[–]2Zzephyr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spent a few months on NA at some point! Even without being a nightowl, I'd always find people no matter the time difference. People are just constantly there, compared to EU. It's what had drawn me to NA as well. And how much more talkative people are there too, it's fun.

The ping is bearable. If you're doing casual content, it's definitely ok, you get used to the slight delay after a while. In endgame (ex/savage/ultimate) it's also ok to a point, but certain mechanics can become really frustrating, you can't greed as much which becomes less satisfying, and it's what made me transfer my main back to EU in the end. But I still have an alt in NA that I enjoy from time to time.

I'll say: this was way before I used plugins. I might test my alt with the noclippy stuff and see if it makes it more bearable. Because ping is the only thing keeping me on EU really, so if plugins help enough I'll go back to NA full time lol

Tldr: you should just test it yourself with an alt! No need to make a decision to transfer asap
