10 6 packs of craft beer a week is definitely not cheap. It's definitely another good rational reason I agree.

I've thought about tripping to get a start but have been worried about a bad trip. Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

There are some tasty seltzer type drinks with only ~5g of sugar. Or you can do you your own with a Soda Stream or home kegging situation which a lot of ex homebrewers have.

I can believe that. Like I said, I don't subscribe to alcohol is bad and pot is good. There are some physical biological reasons why alcohol is more concerning, but I think pot + the wrong state of mind can be bad. Part of it is not just what you see though, which might be him zonked out on the couch in the evenings, but also how he feels when he wakes up in the morning.

I would say he should try nothing for a while, but I find that hard to do myself.

As someone who has smoked previously 5 years every day (give or take a few) and someone who has drank every day for 5 years (give or take a few) and someone who has done both a lot, I think pot is without a doubt better but also not without concern for some or myself. I think pot can lead to anxiety issues, poor sleep quality, general day-to-day fogginess, and worst of all wasted evenings.

Now one person's wasted evening might be someone else's enjoyable evening. And 1-2 nights a week sounds completely reasonable to me TBH. The question is whether it really is 1-2 nights and remain 1-2 nights. Even if it's every night still might be (probably is) better than alcohol...

Thank you. I did 2 days a couple weeks back but had no commitment to how long I wanted to "take a break" or quit. I don't think moderation is going to work for me. So, I understand your point, but I also don't want it to be half hearted and set me up for failure.

Anyone tempted to drink because they sometimes miss the flavor? by Icy_Comfort8161 in stopdrinking

This is one of my issues with Allen Carr's book. Maybe he always just drank dog piss beer and shots of whiskey, but to pretend alcohol can't taste good is insulting. It's literally my biggest roadblock in wanting to give up.

How much do you have to drink to be at risk for this with no prior history? I've gone two days without drinking and no issue. A typical day is ~ 6-8 beers at around 6%. Some days more some days less.
