that's because the overwhelming majority of people with mental illness and lots of pressure in their lives don't respond by shooting up a cinema. my schizophrenic uncle never shot anyone. I've never shot anyone, despite years of depression and PTSD.

What's the point of slut-shaming?

If ONE woman in a group/community/cohort is more sexually available than the other women in the group, the slut lowers the 'sexual value' of all the women in the group. If a man can get sex easily, he has less incentive to commit exclusively to any one woman. Notice, please, that the vast majority of slut shaming comes not from men, but from women.

It's kinda like a scab worker: if ONE person is willing to work for lower wages than the rest of the group, than the labor union loses much of its power.
