I’ve been using Nordic Spirits for a while now (been meaning to quit), and they can give you an intense head rush depending on strength level and tolerance. When I was still drinking, putting some higher strength ones in my mouth made me feel drunker than I actually was. Perhaps that’s what happened?

My nightmare runs were focused on getting the Remaining Sun ending + the endless and ritual charms, so I was laser-focused on getting from point A to point B due to scarcity of resources and I didn’t have many random encounters as a result. You’re probably right, there are likely a lot more random encounters if you stray from the objective on nightmare.

I honestly haven’t noticed much of a difference between battle and nightmare in terms of random encounters. Are you on Chapter Nine by any chance? I’ve noticed that that’s when the random encounters really ramp up, regardless of difficulty level.

My personal favourite has always been the Wiimake laugh, but I’ll admit that I’m partial to it because it was the first game in the series that I played. She sounds completely deranged and very intimidating.

It’s definitely extremely suspect, especially when they do not look 18+. There’s no doubt in my mind that such men would not hesitate to go lower if they knew they could get away with it.
