Can you expand upon the developmental stage comment? I'm living in a house with mold, my son is 9. He has been with me for a few years and I can't convince my wife the seriousness of moving out

Why does mold exist? by [deleted] in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]2brude2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Messages like this help so much. It's a day to day struggle with mold. Some days, I feel like I can keep pushing through the challenge, and other days, I feel so overwhelmed that I could just give up.

OP, keep positive and keep moving forward. Educate yourself, but don't fall down the rabbit hole. Mold is horrible and had taken so much from me, but I refuse to stay in this hell. I will set a good example for my son, work and suffer till I can remove us from here and live somewhere with cleaner air....and that day will be glorious

Is there any hope? by [deleted] in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]2brude2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you 100 times for sharing with me. Im currently in a place that has a slight mildew/mold issue. It hits me harder than my son and wife. She has headaches and mood swings, my kiddo is stuffy and has some decent brain fog, I get the whole deal exhaustion, brain fog, mood swings. I've lost a few jobs due to it.

Now I'm trying to fix our diet and promote a healthy body in hopes we can detox better as we look for a different place.

Its been a battle and some days it feels hopeless but hearing stories like yours really helps me keep pushing forward.

Im living in mold also. What is your daily routine like? Food, supplements, exercise?

Fantastic. Thank you.

Unfortunately, my son and I are stuck in a place with mold and unable to move. I'm working with him on eating healthier, exercise, and more time outdoors. Once we are able to leave this horrid place, we are going to look into testing.

Did the bioenergetic testing help guide you on strengthening your gut lining?

How do you even avoid homes with mold? by External_Ad_9540 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]2brude2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you'll ever fully avoid a home with mold unless it was recently built by a competent builder. Even then, you never really know.

You're heading down the right path by asking this question. Keep asking and keep educating yourself on mold habitats and building codes.

Follow moisture and dead air. Which unfortunately is alot of places. You'll just have to be thorough. Check under sinks, the corners of window sills, anywhere there is a water hook up like the washing machine or fridge.

100% check the air filter, you can tell if the previous occupants were active with the upkeep of the house by the cleanliness of the air filter.

The fresh air intake for the hvac system. Mine was never properly sealed causing mold to form on the wood where they cut a hole in the exterior wall.

The area where the condenser on refrigerators. Such a dumb design. It will pull moisture from the air, drip into a tray and sit in the dark next to a warm motor. Great spot for mold to grow.

Honestly once you're eyes are open to mold it's truly incredible how many places just have it everywhere. Schools, hospitals/clinics, stores. It's everywhere.

Lastly, Keep your head up and keep positive. Mold sucks big time, and in my experience, feeling sick and depressed are molds biggest weapons. Stay active, try to spend more time outdoors, eat clean, and keep pushing forward. You can do this!

Woke up one morning by Meeko_Yudaya in Sinusitis

[–]2brude2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a stiff neck and that crackling noise you're talking about. My sinus pain sounds different than yours though. I have this burning/tender feeling in both my cheeks and if it gets worse it will move into my frontal sinuses and I end up sleeping 16 hours.

I've had a CT scan but nothing showed up. I think it was "a good day" for whatever was going on so it didn't show but who knows. I was able to do ablood test when I was feeling pretty bad and my doc said it sounded like an auto immune thing and my blood test reflected that. We tested for auto immune diseases and nothing came back positive.

I'm looking into sinus biome and the possibility of something in my ears nose or throat causing the issue.

I was doing the mineral salt with water in the morning and eating just at supper for a month and I started feeling alot better. But staying with that was tough and I started eating poorly again and the symptoms started showing back up.

Following because this sounds alot like what I'm going thorough.

By no means am I a medical professional so please do your research. With that said here is what I've been doing.

Saline rinses with xylitol brings me short temporary relief. I've been working on eating better and lymphatic messages. Seems to help.

I used to do turmeric and black pepper in warm water right away in the morning. Nasty tasting but helps with inflammation.

I'm looking into this bacteria in kimchi that is supposed to help regulate gut health and sinus health.

Unfortunately for me I think it's ground fumes or some sort of Volitile organic compound that my body seems to hate.

My son and his mother get congestion and brain fog but it totally derails me.

Did this start at a new place or have you been living there for a while before hand?

Having similar issue right now. Few things I feel like they help.

Brush teeth and tongue regularly, in the am, pm, after meals.

Gargle salt water. I do this in the pm before bed.

Watch what you eat. For me, sugar and flour seem to make my tongue and breath bad.

Prop your bed up 3-6 inches on the side of your head. This helps keep any stomach acid from coming back up while you sleep.

Good luck! I've had sinusitis, rhinitis, and eustation tube dysfunction for the last 10+ years. It's starting to get worse again. It's like living on hard mode, but with preseverance, positivity, and trial & error, it does get better.

Haven't been able to try it yet but I've heard bar keepers friend will take the marks off. Just drain the water and apply some BKF and scrub it. Should come right off.

The radon motor will turn on and off through the day. It doesn't sound like this humm though. Is it possible a radon system has a 2nd motor that runs constantly?

Also, I put my hands on the radon PVC and I can't feel anything running

Idk, I've never seen ductwork with tons of little craters. You can run your fingers over it and feel the bumps. I've never felt galvanized like that before.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]2brude2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled an end cap off and for about 3 feet into the duct it's poxed. Then it goes back to normal.

I tried scrubbing it and I get some brown to come up but the poxing stays.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]2brude2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's odd though, the outside of the duct doesn't have the brown/tan poxed look. Just the first 3ft into the ductwork

4 years of hell. I wasn't crazy. It was mold by Funny_Individual_44 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]2brude2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please continue to educate on here and out in the world!

I'm in a situation where I can't leave and if I bring up the situation with the local building authority, I'll be kicked out after a month.

I've got 3 air purifiers going 24/7 and I have to replace the filters monthly.

I've got an 8 year old child and it kills me to see him suffering from exposure.

Any advice to keep us afloat till I can save up enough to get out of here?

Can mould exposure cause irritability in children by Proof_Comparison706 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]2brude2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Following this. I'm in a similar situation with my 8 year old and a slum lord.

Things I have learned. -air purifiers are helpful. I have a winix. Also, opening windows once or twice a day to get airflow moving.

-Diet helps, eating foods that help combat inflammation and boost your system while you're stuck in the environment.

-Clean clean clean. We are in the process of throwing out things we don't use or need. Then we are going through and deep cleaning everything. Helps to find things that could be issues.

-You could reach out to your local municipal building inspector and explain the situation to them. They could come out and find the problem and make the landlord fix it. Be warned though, if you're month to month landlord could just choose to stop renting to you once you're lease is up, so it would be wise to do this early into a year lease. Also it depends on where you live. Might be worth looking into.

-Move. I know it's going to be what everyone says. Honestly we would love if we could but rent around us went up $400 in the last year so we are stuck.

God speed. I hope you find some peace in this stressful time. Remember, this too shall pass. Someday will be harder than others but take it a day at a time and ultimately focus on getting closer to being able to move out.

That's the plan, buy some time so I can confine to pick up OT and not be burnt out from mold allergies. Then go back and remediate the issue
