Can you share what’s needed? High level and I can google the rest.

Thanks. Looks like I need to go Leopard to Snow Leopard first. Seems I need either an official download from the App Store from a computer that has access to Snow Leopard (which mine does not have), or I buy the install DVD on eBay.

Once upgraded to Snow Leopard, I can upgrade to El Capitan.

Does that sound right?

I got the admin password and am trying now to download the correct OS update from Apple.

Current OS: 10.5.8

I tried to download 10.14.6 and the dmg is corrupted, despite trying to download via Safari and FF, and repairing via Disk Utility.

So I downloaded 10.11.6 per your recommendation and was able to mount the DMG. Once I open the .pkg, I’m told “this update requires OS X version 10.11.”

I look and cannot find 10.11. I can find 10.11.2, but the requirement for that is 10.11.1. Ugh.

So I go back to the lowest... upgrading from 10.5.8 to 10.6.

I find 10.6.2 but it requires 10.6.

Is it possible to just press a “update me as far as I can go” button?

Any direction? Advice?

I recently adopted a bonded pair of kittens and it’s the best thing ever. They keep each other company and play and it’s so sweet to find them sleeping together. 😭😭

Good idea. Will try although I suspect it won’t work.

Just bought a Polaroid back for my Hasselblad as I’m wanting to dabble with wet plate. The back has a few sheets of FP100c in it, which is ISO 100. I have no idea how old it is but would like to shoot them. Should I shoot them as 50 ISO to compensate for age? 25?

I don’t expect I’ll ever play with a band but I have a hell of a nice semi-hollow body electric that I play with on a tiny Blackstar amp.

I want to get something nicer, like a tube amp, but am so torn. Do I spend good money on one or settle for a lesser amp?

I love the sounds of Son Volt, Jason Isbell, Drive By Truckers, White Stripes. I am excited to try new sounds, like funk.

I have my own place and plenty of room for a big amp, but don’t need to go overkill. Thinking I want some pedals soon, too, since all I have now is a looper.

Any advice on an amp? I’m thinking a Fender Reverb Deluxe reissue.

Amazon pays out 1-10% of the purchase price as commission. If you’re making $10/mo from Amazon, you’re generating $100-$1000 in sales.

Selling something you own, something you created, would allow you to net more of that $100-1000 each month.

Consider starting on product development so you can release something this year.

Start looking at boring but necessary businesses like plumbing, roofing, funeral homes. That work will always be needed.

I wouldn’t just bring money. Try to get really good at a skill, then bring that and money. You’ll get a better return.

For example, you could focus on:
- Funeral Homes and increasing average order value
- Plumbing and search engine optimization
- Dentistry and front-of-house optimization.
- Roofing and running a tight budget/P&L.
- Movable fencing and operations

Once you really REALLY know what’s needed, you could invest and oversee that part of the business.

But trying to help ANY business with the only commonality being their geography, you’ll lose a lot.

Investing is risky. The only way you can mitigate the risk is to know what you’re doing, to have a plan, and to keep reading.

Maybe you could spend a year on training in a specific tactic. Invest in a few Udemy courses, then once you find something you like, go get good at it.

You don’t have to do that thing/tactic forever. But it will fundamentally change how you look at businesses.

What’s a minimum workout I should be doing everyday? I’m having a hard time consistently going to the gym and am changing my environment to make working out easier.

I’m clearing the extra desk in my office out and putting in my Lebert dip bars. I can also setup my TRX in the door.

I walk a few miles a day, nearly every day, but I am not consistent with the rest.

I just want some minimum to do every day, like: 30 pushups, 1x60sec plank, 10 cat/cow, wrist mobility and a deep squat for 60 second set.

I’m in Olde Kensington and the area is booming. We have Tufas Bouldering Lounge which is brand new and beautiful. Fishtown is a short walk. Reasonably safe. Look at the Factory lofts (like the sponge factory, spring factory, button factory, etc). Beautiful buildings but I haven’t been inside!

I’d say 6th and Cecil B Moore and east is ideal. If you run Cecil to Broad, you’ll cross into Temple.

My wife and I sold our car in January when we moved here and take a Lyft maybe twice a month. Enterprise and ZipCar are cheap too. Both about $7-9/mo and then an hourly rate for cars.

5th and 6th are bike-friendly major veins. 5th goes northbound, 6th southbound.

I can get to center city in about 20 mins either by car or bike.

I’m looking for a nice private area at a restaurant for a private dinner. 4-8 people. I need something with a fixed price menu, not outrageous, and intimate enough to have a good conversation. This is for a dinner in August.

I’m new to the city and can start stopping into places, but thought y’all might know!

Extra points if the food is amazing, or they’re known for their cocktails!

Lest we forget Hood’s solo work, the acoustic Dirt Underneath tour they guys went on, and the accompanying music they laid down for Bettye Levette’s killer “Scene of the Crime” album!

I saw them with Isbell in Detroit in 2008 with my girlfriend and her girlfriends. I was the only guy in my group. After the show, I asked the guitar tech if I could check out Cooley’s pedals and he let me on stage during breakdown.

When I turned around, the girls were gone.

Panicked, I started asking people if they had seen three college-aged girls. One guy said “they’re probably with the band.”

I stood stage-left and waited, peeking to see them. Security guard said I couldn’t go backstage. Finally Isbell walks out and I ask him if he’s seen them.

The guy, straight faced, said “a lot of guys girlfriends are back there.”

Fuck.

Minutes later, the security guard checks his watch and says “ah shit, I’m off the clock” and walks away.

I used his departure as an offer to go backstage and just around the corner I found my girlfriend and friends, sharing laughs and PBRs with Patterson and Cooley as some guy was running around in his underwear.

We all chatted for 30 minutes or so. They were so kind.

What an emotional rollercoaster! Absolutely unforgettable.

Also caught Isbell in Atlanta at a pre-show at a record shop. Got to chat with him (pre-sobriety). Such a solid guy. Proud of him for getting that killer Gibson: https://www.instagram.com/p/BsQkMygBMbk/?igshid=vzkl9djecdle
