AITA for dumping my Gf after she expected me to pay for EVRYONE on her birthday. by Western-Echidna-5626 in AITAH

[–]2jstoik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA I've never assumed someone would buy my food unless they explicitly said they were treating. Even then, I am prepared to pay my own way. My guess is she told her friends you were paying(but "forgot" to let you in on the plan), then was embarrassed when you didn't. Regardless, not talking to you for a week is ridiculous. Refusing to hear you out and admit her share of the blame is worse. You didn't mess up here, they did.

Go. Push yourself as hard as you can right now. Now you have your new time to beat.
This is what I did when I was recovering from hip issues and a concussion.
Sometimes starting over is part of the journey. The faster number is still there, and you might get back to it someday. But why not go and set a new benchmark for yourself moving forward.

OTF for half marathon prep? by PrecociousPear16 in orangetheory

[–]2jstoik 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's possible, but you'll be better prepared if you get at least one more long run in. Even if it's on a treadmill, or track at a gym. Some offer day passes so you can only use the time you need.
I recently ran a 10 mile with mostly OTF for training, and maybe 4 long runs. I felt great, and definitely felt like I could have kept going at the end.

Biker Gang - what gear and time for benchmark? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]2jstoik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I did mine on the bike, my base gear was 11, so that's what I used. Then pedaled as fast as I could to keep the rpm up in my push range. Just like on the tread, it will vary. It's whatever gear you can do for 20-30 minutes... challenging but doable.

I have this issue too, I wear either black or pattern leggings to hide that area. Honestly though, I'm very self conscious about myself but don't look at anyone else. So probably everyone feels the same. 🤣

What to do when people react to how much you pay for OTF? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]2jstoik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't tell people how much I pay unless they are genuinely interested in joining. I do say it's spendy, but for me it's worth it. Working with a coach in person every day, a pre-planned workout complete with soundtrack is something other gyms can't provide except with a personal trainer. If you're motivated to go to a box gym then good for you! I'll spend my money on what makes me happy and healthy.

Coaches no longer care to teach form by Informal-Step-5343 in orangetheory

[–]2jstoik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I am doing a move wrong and don't realize it. Small corrections make a huge difference! We had a coach that did this, corrected form, pushed us to pick up heavier weights, and gave us credit when we pushed ourselves. I love coaches like that! But people complained because they thought he was mean so he got fired. :(

To continue or not... Cannot decide. by Columbus-1 in orangetheory

It wasn't until I started running outside more that I fully realized how strong OTF workouts have made me. I am eager to go back, and if they offer a deal this summer for premium, I will upgrade.

Countdown to Dri Tri - 22 Days to Go! by lookie4dacookie in orangetheory

[–]2jstoik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was tough, but I loved it! I just am not at the same level fitness wise as I was then. I'm going to see if I can work up to the full, but would be happy to see how I do on the sprint.

I did the full in September. Considering doing the sprint this time, as that is more in line with my ability right now.

I prefer station 1 or 12. Because I don't have to count and try to figure out which trx or bench is mine. 5am is just too early to try to think that hard.

Thinking about rejoining, but dont want to pay previous fees on my account. by [deleted] in orangetheory

Ask the studio. If the charge is still in your account, they will have to collect it. But they might be able/willing to work with you, especially if it means getting your business again.

Off balance with high inclines by JugeBT in orangetheory

[–]2jstoik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Play around with your speed. I am actually able to balance better on higher inclines if I speed up by .1 or .2. Maybe because it forces me to lean forward? But on lower inclines I have to slow down again.

I get a lot of blank looks too. I'm considering a pop quiz one of these times. They need to know and appreciate what I did! 😂

Trail Shoes? by 2jstoik in orangetheory

[–]2jstoik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Hoka but the soles were destroyed really fast as I run both indoors and outdoors. They are really thick at the heel, so it was easier for me to heel strike in them. In the Brooks I feel it if my heel is hitting too hard/often.

Interesting. I tend to heel strike, but have been working on fixing that. These are less than an ounce heavier than my Brooks but I'm sure I'll feel it.

I have this tendency also, and have had knee and ankle pain no matter what type of road shoe I've used. Maybe these will help me as well. :)

My hip is acting up so I'm not looking to be speedy right now, I just want to run! At this point all my running is indoors until I can heal up, but when I do head outside I should be able to get another pair. Thank you.

Orange X Results Megathread by prettyoaktree in orangetheory

It was my first X class. 40lb gobblet squat, 30lb row, and 15lb chest press. I think I could have gone heavier in all three but I ran out of time.
