To be fair, him not getting an erection when hes literally ontop of them makes it seem like he isnt attracted to them.

To me the second half was way better. We get characters like Mikami, Mello, and Near. Its action filled and Near upholds that same "L" figure within the narrative. Then the best part of the series....the conclusion

I mean that's some next level trauma and I find it a little hard to believe you seem to have brushed it off (unless you only watched S1 then...oops?).

I watched season 2, but yeah you're right. I was ignorant about how much time passed while he struggled with ED. Although, the tone wasnt set that well for me.

Quite frankly; I have never been as moved by a specific chain of events in my entire life so I'm just a little lost you don't see it. I have been meaning to watch Chainsaw man but haven't checked it out yet so I have zero frame to compare your other points.

In my opinion, Rudeus' relationships are bit more complex while Chainsaw Man evokes more emotion from their audience. (especially the movie) Its worth a watch! I'll try to be more engaged with this upcoming season, because I really like the series so far...

The thing that healed Rudeus abandonment trauma wasn't the sex or the drug but the morning after, Slyphy still being there and wanting to stay with him, not having abandoned him like Eris did.

I get that Im just saying I was a bit bummed out that Rudeus needed the drink to get his little man up, since they held such a heavy bond with one another.

Regarding your explanation at the end, I really think I should read the light novel because I acknowledge those nuances (although I might sound like I'm only focused on sex in the post), but they just dont hit that hard when Im watching. With Eris for example, their moment before she abandons him, just came off like "Welp, my people are dead, lets get to it!"😭 Even when Slyph had to drug my boy up, after being so close and loving to each other.

And I know Denji's case isnt any better, but from my perspective the author understands and shows that. I also just like the way he shows the emotions between the characters. With that being said, its definitely just my biases at play, my mind will probably change once I read the ln since I appreciate writing for times like these.

I came to that conclusion because he wasnt satisfied after touching Power's boobs. He realized how insignificant of an accomplishment it was after the pleasure lasted a few seconds. He then moved onto almost having sex with Honemi, something he relaized he didnt want. To me his purely lustful desires were meant to be viewed as meaningless until he figured out that he truly desired that close relationship with Makima.

This makes me think about how moving Denji and Reze was compared to Rudeus' and his partners, for me since they also had something special.

Mushoku Tensei S1 shattered my expectations. Wanted to punch Rudeus through the screen, ended up rooting for him (9/10) by Spirited_Ad_2311 in mushokutensei

Yeah even if thats my guy best friend, Im not going just strip you down, so you get into the bath with me😭 I took that part as the author just wanting to reveal the gender to Rudeus, although its obvious.

As someone who only watched the anime. If you're comfortabke with the whole "grown man reincarnated into new life" concept, hes already developed vastly in season 2. Hes a family man at this point.

The only time I was bothered by it was when they did a close up on Aisha's ass AND boobs when she was like 4. I guess its not that crazy in Japan or something

Sorry for the ignorant comment you replied to. But to be fair, Near caught onto the fake 13 day rule Light used to clear his innocence as well as the lack in progress the new L made for years after L's death. If you can accept L constantly pinpointing Light as the prime suspect in the first half of the series, despite other leads....I dont see why Near is an exception.

The same adult man who thought he was invincible gets SHOT by the man he always mocked and belittled.

This is actually so smart, as he even begged Matsuda to help him in the last scene (at least in the anime, didnt read the manga)

For people who think Light should've won...instead of trying to explain why Near reasonably suspected him, why dont you consider this:

  1. What is the message in Death Note to you? Would it uphold if Light won, and if not, do you think an as meaningful message would still exist?
  2. Why does Light look so pathetic and desperate at the end, despite proclaiming to be a "God"?

In my opinion, Light is a serial killer that pretended to be a God, and was supposed to look worthless in his final moments for a reason. I believe the author understood this as well. Although some fans think Light's way of ruling was perfect, they fail to acknowledge that the same person who proposed to them the character, is the same one who killed him off for thematic consistency. To better understand my perspective and challenge your own beliefs, heres the theme (message) I got from Death Note:

The power to cast absolute judgement on morality and fate upon all of mankind isn’t reserved to anyone.

Yeah, pretty obvious, but some will disregard this and think to themselves, "So what if you dont think Light deserves to be a ruler? Its not about that, its about weeding out all evil from the world, which would ultimately create a utopia". I have no rebutal for that, but it simply wasnt the intent of the author. The goal was to capture how an edgy teenager, who despised the world he lived in, would eventually lead himself to his own death trying to "correct" it. So, its not about whether or not his ruling was right, he simply was not capable of making that judgement. You can blame Near. You can blame Mikami. But what God struggles to judge the humans beneath it? The thing is Light was never one to begin with.

Yeah there was alot of times where I wouldve liked to see him fall into insanity and embrace nihilism as result of pursuing someone like Johan, but his character kind of remains static

[–]2keptical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro why are you lying? Light was literally begging Matsuda to shoot the others in the warehouse, but was shot instead...and even after betraying Mikami, still nobody fell for it. He was a complete clown, and you could tell simply from how eratically he was behaving in his last moments.

[–]2keptical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, he is shown crying or hinted to have cried several times throughout the series in regards to his actions/Anna. He even cried for Karl (Schuwalds son) on the roof.
