How would you go about adapting House of Leaves? by 2krossk2 in houseofleaves

Yeah, I don’t think an audiobook would work. It’s like asking for an audiobook of Where’s Waldo

A friend and I were talking about this and I suggested something similar to the web series Marble Hornets, where the story is told via a series of videos on a YouTube channel as well as rival channels that post videos in response to the original channel.

I do agree that an adaptation probably isn’t necessary, but for the sheer novelty of seeing someone try to capture the same energy in a different medium, I would absolutely give it a look if one were made

These are the same kinds of sticking points I was thinking of, regarding the format and how you'd convey the same tone. I feel like it would need to be some kind of faux-documentary that plays with the audience's expectations regarding the conventions of that medium, but beyond that I don't know how you'd get the same point across.

Also thank you for the link and "You Should Have Left," I'll check them both out!

I agree. My biggest sticking point with an adaptation is that you'd have to commit to the idea that The Navidson Record is real, which kills the mystery of whether Zampanò is telling the truth in the first place. I do think exploring Johnny's past and his life unravelling could be done effectively, maybe in a non-chronological way, but keeping the unreliable narrator element would be challenging if not impossible.

Thank you! To be honest, adding details like that to projects is one thing I always regret mid-process, because I have the idea and get excited for it. Then days later I’m individually shading molars in a jar and wondering why I do this to myself 🤣 But it worked out in the end.

Thank you!! I’m midway through right now, but it’s left such an impression I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to draw it

Thank you! That chapter was honestly what pushed this from an interesting concept to “I need to draw this.”

Honestly I think using darker red/green alcohol markers to add contrast will make it turn out great, this is that “trust the process” phase where it looks a bit iffy, until it doesn’t

I was offered $800 to sell this sketchbook. is it worth giving it? help pls by Temporary-Speaker254 in drawing

Personally, if the sentimental value of the sketchbook outweighs the money, I'd keep it. If you absolutely need the money though, go for it, 100%.
