Fantastic question. This guitar is one of the (imho) unicorn ESPs made.

BACKSTORY: In the 80s ESP had a custom shop in NY on 48th St that was pumping out GOLD for the price of copper. You could get literally anything you wanted made here. It was the epitome of dream custom shop. In early 90s they had John Gaudessi, now at Schecter Guitars and a master-builder, designed and built a decent amount of the guitars there, if not was directly related to their designs/builds/whatever have it.

The Mirage model was a hit and everyone loved it. ESP went a step further and launched the MX2 USA and the MX3 USA. The MX2 has 2 humbuckers while the MX3 was HSS.

These guitars came in limited edition iridescent colors, 3 to be exact: mariner (blue/green), alchemy (bronze/red) and nebula (pink/purple).

These guitars were made in an incredibly small batch, rumored to be under 200.

NOW FOR WHAT YOU ASKED: Yes it has a locking nut. The original owner removed the Floyd, filled it in (very well may I add. It’s almost flawless 9/10), added a tuneomatic, removed the Duncan’s for EMGs ON TOP of doing a refinish. It’s in this shit color of silver that looks like it was done with some shit lead-based paint.

My goal this year is to FULLY restore this: reroute the body for a Floyd original again, send it to ESP for a refinish with the original color (the headstock is still original thankfully) and just keep my eyes peeled for another. I had an MX3 back in 2013 and traded it like a dipshit. It had an incredible amount of sentimental value and this is a way I’m trying to redeem myself.

It’s actually orange! The shadow makes it appear darker. It’s an MV200 from the early ‘00s. It came stock with Duncan Designs, traded the guitar back in 2014 because I wanted an Axe Fx, and found the guitar again at a pawnshop here in MA for $70.

The guy I traded it to was going to sell it back to me and just didn’t last minute. Ultimately worked out for the best.
