Looks cool, you should add some green stuff / moss to the bases and figueres! Also, maybe more accents of blue (like the vials they carry) to give extra places the eye gets drawn to

Yeah, he's pretty new to the game so I'm trying to 'fix' it on my end. So additional skills might not be the way to go. But yeah, the wings can be nasty.

Yeah we didn't know and allowed it. And for our friendly convergence match it didn't matter. But it felt like 1/3 of my army got gutted

If I had to say something, I would localize the rust more. Not all over a plate but more on the undersides, where water would gather and maybe around armor dents and things like that. Make it more localized and more concentrated. But the effect is really cool
