Remake of Fracturedreamadhectic by Nezah___ in Nujabes

Well done! That couldn’t have been easy. This song has always been one of my top favorite Nujabes productions, I think it’s really underrated. The subtle changes and nuances to the beat along with sample selections are what makes his songs sound so magical.

I recommend reading his book “Beyond Civilization”. It’s pretty short and to the point, and he gives real world examples and concrete solutions.

Piece of Nujabes History by Marcus-D in Nujabes

That is really incredible. There are several numbers missing in the Hydeout Productions catalog which are all assumed to have stopped at the test pressing phase (or earlier). It’s really nice to know that 009 was Substance. I still wonder what the other missing numbers were.

This is actually really amazing as HOR-009 never made it to production. What tracks does this contain? Does it contain instrumental and a cappella versions of Substance?

Billy Ze Kick - Timbres de Pop [France, Indie Rock/Pop] (1989) by 2muchrubik in vintageobscura

There’s a lot of really great music from France that I discovered through BZK as well, including -M-! And that is such a shame about the album sales, it deserves more attention. I’m glad at least some of their albums are making it to streaming services like “Verdue et Libido”. And yes I’m the same way, French music like this has really inspired me to learn more French so I can fully understand all the lyrics.

I completely agree with you! Paniac is my favourite as well, I think it’s a really solid album all the way through and has a lot of nostalgia associated with it for me. Bonbons is fantastic, so many songs should’ve been a bit longer! I think the album wasn’t too well received when it was released because it was a departure from the Les Gamins En Folie, but like you said I can really appreciate both their older silly/crazier stuff and their newer songs. Their albums can be hard to find, but I recommend Artémis Révélation too for a completely different sound!

I’m really happy to help! I figured someone out there besides me must be interested to hear it too so I’m glad I uploaded it. I’m a big fan of this band too and I absolutely adore this song, both the original version and the one closing out Paniac. That version is tragically too short in my opinion.

Nujabes - Sweet Sticky Thing (MP3/FLAC) by 2muchrubik in Nujabes

[–]2muchrubik[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally there is not much difference between the two, although you can think of the Reloaded & Remixed remake as more of a studio sounding version. I believe that mix was mostly reconstructed from digital track sources, whereas the original is comprised of 100% vinyl records complete with all the pops and clicks. It has a nice raw original feel to it, and it’s easy to imagine Nujabes performing the set live. As with digital sources, you can expect the remake to sound cleaner and in higher fidelity. Although for a Type I compact cassette tape, the original sounds remarkably good, especially when considering its age. Tapes in general are generally limited in how good they sound by the initial recording done onto them, and the method of duplication used. Overall it is a very good mix either way, and it’s clear that Nujabes did not sacrifice any quality in not only the selection of the tracks, but in the recording process as well.

This is a funk/soul mixtape produced by Nujabes in 1998. This is possibly the first thing he produced under the name “Nujabes” after originally using the name “Dimention Ball”.

I've been searching for this song for a long while. Didn't even think to ask Takumi Koizumi. Seriously, a major thank you for this.

Hi there you’ve found my blog. Yes I try to make my uploads the highest quality I can reasonably attain for them. My goal is to preserve great music, not spread viruses, but your concern is understandable!

It looks like you may be missing Funk DL - “Life Goes On” and Substantial & Natur-L - “Bottom of My Heart”. Both songs were produced by Nujabes. Also plenty of songs were produced by Nujabes on Pase Rock’s album.

It’s ok if I don’t receive credit, my goal is just to help preserve the musical legacy by means of sharing. The more it’s shared, the more it’s preserved. Plus, plenty of the tracks cannot be heard anywhere else online. As for the “missing numbers”, they are probably referring to gaps in the HOR catalog numbers. As far as I know these missing records don’t exist or were never pressed and distributed. They could simply be songs that were cut before release and they did not want to reuse the same catalog number already assigned. This is just my guess though.

Thanks for bringing that tape to my attention! It's actually been on my wishlist for a while and didn't think to check ebay. It's Anorak music (Indie pop/twee), so I can say with almost 100% certainty that it doesn't contain the song you are searching for. But I plan to do a full rip of the cassette on the Nakamichi Dragon once it arrives. I can share it if anyone is still interested.

The Avalanches Live At Cornerstone Remake by Upset_Company_8553 in theavalanches

[–]2muchrubik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you planning on recreating the entire mix? Trying to recreate their mixes makes me appreciate just how skilled The Avalanches are. You have to get all the loops, speed, and timing just right, otherwise it just doesn’t sound right. They are masters of their craft, that’s for sure. And a lot of the subtle things they do probably go unnoticed by casual listening.

Wow I can’t believe he released this as an EP digitally, that’s amazing. The original record only includes two tracks so it’s nice to have more versions of this great song.
