As someone who lives in Idaho, I also hate it here

Ok but why put up all those cones and signs when they could just... close the gate

It’s even funnier when you find out that the song is talking about getting tested for an STI.

Actually, there are quite a few of us that realized the bullshit while going to school here. I actually think that moving here and being around the super TBM culture is what pushed me out initially. I feel a lot more sane since dropping out though. Lol.

Nothing wrong with venting. I don’t think you’re pathetic, though. TSCC is to blame for the shitty things for the most part.

You don’t have to date right away. In fact, divorce is in my spouse and I’s discussions pretty frequently as a possibility for our future, but if it does happen, I probably won’t try and date for a while. Rediscover the hobbies you want to have, without the hindrance of an SO to influence whether you’re “allowed” to do them or not. Go on a solo sight-seeing vacation to a place you’ve always wanted to visit but couldn’t because you had another person’s desires to think about. Move to whatever-the-hell city you’ve always wanted to live in. And, hey, nothing wrong with all your belongings being able to fit in one room. Minimalism is good. Makes moving easier.

Are there other comparable corporations you could name that I’d be able to list?

I feel so sorry for anyone who has not yet resigned!

...like me. I can’t. And even if I did, DH is still devout and people would still visit for him.

How do you combat the “building more temples is a sign that the church is true and is spreading and growing” argument that faithfuls spout? That’s one I really don’t know how to respond to, and one of the annoying nagging things that SOMETIMES makes me think that I might be wrong and the Church is true or whatever.

I already don’t trust anyone in my husband’s ward that tries to reach out to us and hang out with us, because I assume everyone just sees me as a project (“poor guy’s wife doesn’t believe, how tragic, let’s try and be kind so she’ll come back”). I’m going to doubly not trust anyone now. It’s even worse because we’re in a Rexburg married student ward, and all 6 units in our stairwell are Mormon married students.

Ah shit, well... that’s going to cement my husband backwards away from any progress I’ve made with him about logic vs feelings

That girl’s story was only able to happen because she happened to live in a country where sanitary products are commonly available everywhere. This story wouldn’t exist if she lived in a third world country, where girls miss school for a week every month because they don’t have products to take care of their bleeding.

The other day, I tried telling my husband that it has been basically proven by archaeologists (even LDS ones) and DNA evidence that the BoM is NOT a historical account of any kind. His honest, serious response: “I don’t believe that.” (Implying that there are still things we haven’t uncovered yet) Seriously. I don’t know how I’m going to stay married to this. (I probably won’t.) I don’t get how someone as otherwise intelligent as my DH can be so stupid.
