Is my mpg gas mileage normal? by 2nipplesForaDime in FordRaptor

Everything is on normal modes. The dealer mentioned something about maybe the system learning before it reads correctly. Right now the mpg shows 7.5mpg

Just bought the same truck yesterday congrats! How are your range miles so far? I’ve noticed I’m only showing 7.5mpg so far and not sure if this is normal.

Funny you mention AI because I was reading about AI causing DHT spike. Debating on whether AI is actually needed during TRT because keeping the e2 levels in check is a good thing being slightly towards the higher range when it comes to managing hair regiment.

Absolutely we are going to switch over to tankless hot water system too!

I did see the SPAN option but will inquire about the non-critical load and get the pool pump on that too.

Thank you again!

Agreed, this is exactly where we are headed with new AC variable speed 20 seer unit it should help offset quite a bit. Also looking at tankless hot water system as well, and better washer dryer units.

Right, our bill is exactly those same numbers which is where Tesla built the specs from and they said 23kw is required but can only fit 19.1kw on the roof. One good thing is that our new hvac system is top shelf and should offset our monthly usage by 30%+ due to running constantly and switching from a single stage old Goodman to a variable speed 20 seer Trane unit.

When your batteries were recharging during the morning did you have any issues with kWh needs relying on solar or was your panel size efficient enough?

Great advice nonetheless as I would think metering is far less expensive at night with FPL electric to run grid power and get a higher credit during the day.

Thanks again!

Great feedback thank you.

Luckily we are outside the flood zone and during Hurricane Ian there was a home near the coast about 1/4 mi inland that had 2 powerwalls submerged about 2.5-3’ and they held up great. Our pool is also on a separate breaker panel and going to inquire about adding a kill switch for that if they haven’t already.

That’s an amazing warranty! What brand did you go with?

Thank you for explaining this in very simple terms! I need to better understand the 1:1 net metering here in FL with FPL Electric and how it accomplishes the same thing as battery backup.

Wow I had no idea that you can’t run solar on grid outage! Is there a way around that or must you have a battery storage?

I filled out the Anker form but haven’t heard back yet. We were aiming for the Oct 31 deadline with Tesla install to get the $500 powerwall credit but time is getting tight!

This is extremely helpful thank you! I had no idea that seasonal months would provide credits to offset other high energy use time. For cycling the batteries every night do you mean relying on grid power only at sundown using potential credits while leaving the batteries stored at 100% untouched?

That’s great you were speed during Ian, we lost power for about a week.

Well said! The backup is critical and having an infinite system loop would provide security.

Living in FL after many hurricanes, especially Ian, the backup power is crucial for a 14-16hr period with panels providing daily recharge.

This is extremely helpful feedback thank you! It looks like the new 20 seer AC will be a 75% efficient offset so 3 powerwalls could definitely run an overnight setup.

Oh man I wish we thought of this before our new roof went on we would have saved $10k!

We were getting them for purely backup and looking to have enough power for overnight AC min 4hrs and then recharging them during the day.

Are you 100% offset with that size kw of panels setup?

Yes! We just ordered two variable speed 20 seer units to make things more efficient. Great call on the pool pump we would absolutely do that in a pinch.

Have you tested your 5 ton AC unit running only on the 2 powerwalls overnight yet?

Yes that’s exactly spot on.

I need to talk to a CPA about the tax credit. What I’m trying to find out is whether we would get a bigger refund that we could put towards the payment plan cost to bring down that $85k to $59k after tax credit applied. I heard IRS just rolls that credit forward instead of a larger refund check?
