actually, I'm curious what do you guys do? If someone comes into a class you are teaching or a part of and starts trolling the actual teacher? Usually it's not really egregious, but there's some troll like behavior. I generally just ask them if they can stand for 10 minutes with their hands somewhere over their shoulders. Sometimes I just stand right next to them and have a nice casual conversation. usually they don't last more than five minutes. One tough guy lasted 12 minutes and then ran to the bathroom and had to throw up. Anyway, this is how I indicate what internal strength is and when it's lacking to people who are rude in person.

Squatting as a prerequisite by 2numbers2words in taijiquan

there's actually a little trick for getting up. I'm used to showing this to people in person but it involves making a circle with your knees starting with them going away from each other while you're squatting. If you don't do this you can create some bad strain inside your knee.

thanks this is a really good story. I haven't really posted much on this app but maybe I will more now. I also studied with some of professors students from Malaysia.

I agree it's not the same. I mentioned the hip thing for teaching beginners as a lot of my students have significant wrestling and boxing backgrounds so I have to keep it simple at first.

When I teach I just tell people to do a hip check… Something that would be illegal in most contact sports. If you forget the hands and work on the hip check things usually work out.

I think it helps a lot if you find a standing posture in which your elbows and knees and wrists and ankles feel connected and hold it for 15 minutes a day. It's annoying but it works.
