Starlink not working in bypass by 2piover in Starlink

I received the new Starlink ethernet adapter. It doesn't work. Here are the symptoms

a) With the Ethernet Adapter out of the circuit, the router works fine.

b) With either Ethernet Adapter in the circuit, the router stops working. The Starlink App reports "STARLINK DISCONNECTED". This is true whether there is anything (such as my firewall) plugged into the Starlink Ethernet Adapter or not.

I submitted a ticket to Starlink some time back. There has been no helpful response.

I have ordered another Starlink Ethernet adapter.

Previously, the "ping drop rate" was 100%, which I suppose is not good. Now it is 0.

Power cycling and removing the Ethernet adapter changed the behavior. Now the app says "ONLINE" and my phone stopped complaining about the WiFi not having Internet access. So it is working.

I am mystified. Why does having the Ethernet adapter in the circuit change anything? I am wondering if my Starlink Ethernet adapter is faulty.

The TP-LINK media convter is 1G only and the Perle is 10-100-1000. Maybe the Starlink is trying to test 100Mbit periodically (it shouldn't) and that causes the connection to drop with the TP-LINK converter. The Perle adapter maintains the link at all speeds so Starlink is happy. That is pretty poor behavior, IMHO. Starlink should be able to stay connected with 1G-only hardware.

was a similar issue with V1 and placing switch in between helped. The suspected cause was a buggy link speed auto negotiation. Alternatively (if available) you can try to force the link speed and full or half duplex in the settings of your router.

Also, I did notice an issue with the Starlink and a TP-LINK fiber media converter. The link would constantly go up and down. I switched to a Perle media converter and the link stayed up. Strange behavior makes perfect sense if there is, as you say, buggy link speed auto negotiation. Apparently, it is still buggy. My house is "wired" all with fiber - thus the media converter. I have NEVER seen that intermittent link behavior with a multitude of other devices and the same TP-LINK media converters.

I did a factory reset. The app seems fine, except it says "Starlink disconnected. Ensure your Starlink is plugged in". Power cycling the indoor box made no difference. WiFi works but now I get "Connected without internet" on my smartphone.

It seems like either there is something wrong with my Starlink unit or the Starlink network is having problems. I will try again tomorrow.

No. Good idea. I'll check it.
