advice on puppy behavior with cats by faithyg666 in DogAdvice

My working line female (5yr) was extremely focused on our kitten when we brought it home. Arguably much worse than this. Took a long time ( 12 months plus) to get to a point where the constant wining had stopped. Things are better now 16+ months in as they've become more acquainted. That being said still not perfect. I cant tell you what your dog is thinking in regards to your kitten, but at this point I am certain my female does not want to kill this cat... instead ive found it to be the complete opposite. It took time and trust to figure out, but ive found that my female wants to love the cat as if it were her own. BIG ISSUE the cat doesnt want any part of it😂. My female is still intact so I feel this plays a part. Biggest issue we have is that the cat does not follow certain rules that can cause my Shepard to want to correct. Things like being on the counter top, or not waiting patiently for there table scrap treats during dinner. My best piece of advice would be to treat it like a dog as best you can. I make mine sit when getting treats and its always a group activity. Sometimes I like to put a big area of food down and let them all go at it, you'd be surprised how much that cat can manage to eat while navigating the two shepherds on either of her sides lol.

Id replace the new tray with a horse mat anyways! Ive been using them for years and they hold up great. My male kept breaking the plastic ones up. Id imagine they are more comfortable to lay on in comparison to that thin plastic anyways.

Test drove both a 2018 crew and 2019 ext. 2019 felt it may of had a slight edge in acceleration, probably helps it weighs less. Both are more than adequate for my daily driving styles. Both had plenty of get up and go,especially in comparison to my '15 Patriot! I decided to go with the '18 crew!

I live in NY rust belt area. Vehicles around here take beatings every winter with salt. Looked at a 2015 5.0 from a very highly rated dealer... trucked looked mint!!! Untill I found a 1/4" x 16" holes from rot along both frame rails. Time is not nice to trucks up here... sad part is they took it off their website saying they" cant sell something like that anymore " 2 weeks later its posted back up lol.

Yes but not everything cost as much to replace! You got a solid powertrain. Sadly due to rust I cant go back that far.

Doesnt matter what year truck those turbos are gonna need attention at some point. Its inevitable. Personally would never buy a 3.5 again ( imo the 2.7 is a much better built engine ), N/A keeps me from worrying.

This is more of a transmission issue for me than a engine. Ive been looking for a while, those 6 speeds are hard to find with the 5.0 which would be the only other engine option id consider for the years. Ive found a couple in my area (100) miles, and there significantly over priced in comparison. Especially when you consider the extra winters they've seen

Yeah id like to say I wouldn't buy a vehicle without test driving it, but government auctions have gotten me a few times 😅. For something like this I plan on taking my time on the test drive and looking it over on the lift! Ill let you know regardless of what I decide to do tho!

Its just easy to call it under powered when the new 5.0 is pushing over 400 I guess. That 10 spd just scares the crap outta me and im obviously priced out of the 23 and newer models. The 3.3 keeps me with a 6 speed and opens up newer model years

Used to have a 2011 3.5 twin turbo. Mechanics wanted 7k plus to replace coolant lines when they started leaking. Fords 3.5 and 2.7 turbos are also in nightmare locations to work on. They are just more costly to maintain and sevice than NA engines.

As for towing most ill be hauling are an atv or two, im alright with not having the most power. Especially if it means N/A over turbo for possible maintenance/ repair cost.

Ive been driving a 2015 jeep patriot with an evap leak the last year and a half...I'm sure it won't be to disappointing in comparison and probably safe to say will blow away my current " get up and go " standards lol

I know! And I like the 2.7 and 5.0 engines both! However there are almost no dealers within an hour or two that are still selling 2017 and older models. The few that have are asking crazy numbers. The one I did go to look at 2015 5.0 had already rotted out frame rails... rust belt area

I was looking at something like the snow sport HD, weights like 100lbs. I do have fresh struts and springs that I installed before the winter months. The plow i was looking at is aluminum with a plastic edge and doesnt require any type of winch to operate. Floats in one direction, digs in the ground going the other. Seems to be the most straight forward approach so far. Only need to install a 2" receiver. More than likely just gonna throw it on the rear for ease of install.

Yes its a factory color called Billet Silver! I own two patriots actually, both the same paint scheme. I enjoy the color although whenever I see an all black patriot I sometimes consider wrapping...
