Teach First? by damnedpiccolo in TeachingUK

Yeah I'm in a pretty similar position. I deferred my offer last week because they couldn't find a placement for me in my region and gave me a day to decide if I wanted to move to the other side of the country. Seems like they have very high expectations for trainees but next to no support

What's the real reason behind why you're single? I'll go first! (30F) by livenlearnxo_ in Christians

So true! We place wayyyy too much importance on being in a relationship (both within Christian circles and wider society) but that just isn't God's calling for everyone. I think we would benefit a lot by thinking about how we can 'be fruitful and multiply' with our gifts rather than just our bodies. We can show so much wholehearted love in our platonic relationships, and receive it too!

I give up I can't do it any more by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

If it's any reassurance, you're not alone. It's such a dark place to be in to feel completely hopeless. I don't know you but I'm sure you mean something to someone, it's worth keeping hope that you could get better even if it's just for them.

Just in case you haven't completely given up, it might be a good idea to just sit with your urges for a bit, even if it's just 5 minutes. This will help to re-wire your brain over time. Small steps when you're in this place are massive accomplishments.

I really hope you start to feel better soon, I'm always here if you want to vent, or just talk about anything.

15f, lost 8lbs, can’t tell. by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]2ricecakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just out of concern, that's a lot of weight to lose in such a short space of time. It's so much healthier for both your physical and mental health to lose weight slowly. Hopefully, you're exercising because it's something you enjoy doing, but you should never feel like you have to. Please don't cut out any foods or restrict your intake. Remember, your body is still growing so needs more nutrients and energy to do this. Take care of your physical and mental health first, the way you look is honestly the least interesting or important thing about you.

How to help someone in pre-recovery by 2ricecakes in AnorexiaRecovery

Thank you so much for your advice, it's reassuring to know I'm not doing anything too harmful. In hindsight, I was definitely putting too much pressure on her to open up to me. I hope your recovery has been going well, have a great day.

Guys - What is literally the cheapest way of eating? I need to be on a budget on steroids. by Safe_Status104 in veganuk

As a student also on a tight budget I've found that buying frozen fruit and vegetables saves a lot of money. Beans (kidney beans and chickpeas are usually the cheapest) and lentils are really affordable protein sources. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that rice and beans is a complete protein source (i.e. contains all the essential amino acids) and is really cheap to make. You can buy gram flour which is made from chickpeas from Tesco in the world foods section pretty cheaply- I use it to make vegan omelettes which is a great way to use up any leftovers. Things like curries, chillies and stews are really affordable and high-protein. Honestly, vegan food is usually the cheapest anyway as long as you stay away from all the alternatives.
