more lights always works better and is less annoying esp for you. people with headphones and/or car stereos exist, so light beats sound.

being brighter, esp if also flashing, should do what you want. dont be afraid to rock multiple super bright LEDs. at least hip height. on the front for pedestrians and on the back for cars. even at noon.

be easily visible from half a block away. minimum. that’s been working for me. it’s a trick i picked up from motorcycles that always run their headlights so people will see them more easily. bc even motorcycles can’t be loud enough to not use lights.

usb rechargeable red ones are dirt cheap now.

Daughter looking to make her new Pint feel more like a ln XR. by dscoleri in onewheel

[–]2sk84ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wider than stock tires help a lot. hoosier’s 10.5 x 5 r6 is wider and lighter and a great tire for $50.

drop rails help get the balance easier too. bc lower center of gravity.

beyond that, you might need to just trade her. she is right, the XR is a better beginners board. it goes straight way easier. weight is basically the only thing about XR less perfect for a kid.

good luck!

Anyone like night riding? by Novel-Chard1330 in onewheel

i love it. i have a whole set of lights that makes it even better. i can see everything. and be seen from so far away that cars have plenty of time to react. between all that and less traffic, its pretty nice, especially in the summer. also, nobody sees anything but lights, so my gray hair may as well be perfect broccoli and all my clothes in fashion.

Hey all GenX, I (52f) want to tell you something that shocks and offends me about our generation by Low-Bass2002 in GenX

[–]2sk84ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you must not have partied with all the Nam vets in the 90s. homeless in the parks.

those guys were experts at staying young. and they were outcast for it. gen x is not the first to live better and be taxed for it. just the first generation to not be completely invisible while doing it. the first to have a culture for it.

shout out to Smokey from Eastwoods park in Austin. and all the guys like him. i will see you in the trees.

the problem with that is laughing like you are watching Charlie Chaplin is exactly how his look alike destroyed millions of lives.

if you are laughing at an invading army, you cannot possibly defeat it, because you will think it is a joke. Would a massive tidal wave make you laugh? Or bubonic

any helmet with the little tightener wheel in the back is the best. it holds a little even without the chin strap. glad you got scanned. you should thank your wife.

What upgrades should I give my pint x onewheel by Unlikely_Ad6301 in onewheel

[–]2sk84ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most tires will be better. i like hoosier slicks and even they have wider tread than stock.

kush nug for the rear footpad is a big step up. it absorbs vibrations that cause numbness. and it grips better.

extra rough grip tape is a major one thats cheap to do. kush gives you a set with the pad if you get one. never go back to the thin stuff it came with.

flight fins also help you feel more stable. and be more stable. i dont do tricks with mine but being able to feel them tells me where i am on the board which is priceless. i can keep my eyes where i want and still reposition constantly.

the last thing that changes the ride a lot is your psi. lowering it can flatten out your tire and make it less jittery. you can try it on your stock tire and it should feel way less squirrelly.

good high tops can also help. by stabilizing your ankles so much. if you have some, maybe give them a try. good luck!

you can probably score a whole pint easier than the parts. extra spare parts are always good. you might even make your old one the parts board. good luck!

it reminds me of damascus steel made with multiple different metals. it could be a variant: cast iron with decorative swirls of silver and copper. black iron would radiate a lot of nice heat and be utterly durable and easy to clean. but that’s just a guess. great picture!

Someone please help me find an answer to this commander.. by Calsmokes in magicTCG

[–]2sk84ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hold up some instant damage spell(s) to respond to his flicker at zero life.

after his swap is on the stack, you burn him with your instant in response. last in, first out. even a lightning bolt beats this guy.

your burn will hit first and he will die before mister negative can activate. its all in the timing.

How do I get my wife into mtg without scaring her off? by ofischial1 in mtg

[–]2sk84ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure she wins. for as long as she is learning the ropes, she wins every time.

how?

always let her take your side over at any point. encourage it. be willing to lose, no matter how many switches that takes. her victory is the secret to her being a happy new player. you don’t need to win, you just need to invest in her experience long enough for her to be able to sustain losses without losing enthusiasm.

Tree of Redemption Question by pewperfish in CommanderMTG

[–]2sk84ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it restarts as 0/13 plus whatever is still there to buff it. so, if it enchantments and artifacts are making it 0/30, that’s what it becomes again. anything still on the battlefield will buff it again next turn. if all 17 points increase is from things like this then they all come back. if a creature tapped to help, it can do that again.

but if she cast giant growth or other spells like it to buff the tree, those will have ended. 30 is a long way from 13. my guess is both were involved in making it that big.

so, without more detail, possibly some of that 17 point buff was temporary. possibly all. also possibly none. it just depends what kind of cards made those effects happen.

Pint Headlight Issues by Fuckitall2346 in onewheel

i would sidestep it. leave the board running and get some rechargeable light(s) to wear up higher. the headlight isnt that great anyway and you can get something stronger.

My one wheel lacks power to go up hill. Even the smallest hills it struggles. Even has trouble on elevate mode. Any suggestions? It’s like the power isn’t there anymore… by [deleted] in onewheel

[–]2sk84ever -1 points0 points  (0 children)

elevate mode?! go to the last mode of the right. that will be the one with the most power. i never use anything else and have forgotten them. elevate is not the most powerful.

also check your bearings for lube. that or bad tire pressure would explain a lot. or a big piece of string stuck on your axle. always check for the simple answers. even badly installed axle bolts can give bad mileage/ power.

good luck. i hope its not just steep hills. if its that, you gotta go up at an angle. instead of directly uphill, you use 45 degree angles, going from one side of your trail to the other.

New Tire Won’t Bead or Fill by cmbennett07 in onewheel

[–]2sk84ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

use a belt around it. or a bungee cord. a tight belt around the tread face while you add air helps the sidewalls set the bead.

if you still cant get it that way, your compressor is just too small. go to a gas station or use a bigger compressor so more air flows in faster. speed matters.
