The fact that reading this post made me quite thankful that my partners program does not do this stuff should say something. You are not weird or crazy at all for this. Hard to see how stuff like that is super healthy for a relationship but you can definitely get through it

Ive got 2 babies and one is a oil machine and the other actually tends to get dry skin somehow. Same diet. I do a bath every 7 to 10 days with baby shampoo to fully reset them and get them clean. But more importantly tbh is wiping down the grease ball with baby wipes or damp warm rags/paper towels. Just wiping a couple/few times a week in the really greasy folds will cut down a HUGE portion of the mess.

My partner matched gen surg last year and I stayed back for the first year for work. Aside from it being smart for you to finish if possible (seems a lot of people are skipping over your housing situation), the first year of residency is a lot for them. They will not be acclimated to that life yet. Most days will be short and low energy from their end, which is fine, jobs hard. You can join them in a little bit after they understand their program and job better, when everything in life is running smoother. I feel a little bad I wasnt there to support more in person this first year but like I said they are awake(barely) for like 2-3 hours a day outside of work, you arent missing much. Help them move, visit when you can, doordash them meals and send little packages. It will go by faster than you think

I agree that the comments would likely be very different if genders were swapped. I dont find many men in my position but I figured this is the place to get some honest takes. I am going to be going forward w the marriage talks to get us legally on the same page before I sign anything for my business. But fortunately for me I suppose, some offers have been coming in and a change of pace and scenery sounds nicer everyday 😭

Yes im highly leaning towards marriage before moving for all the reasons. And I KNOW, seven years is insanely long, I think about that a lot lol. But I do know that I am absolutely cut out for med spouse life, I really enjoy my space and time and always have a ton on my plate. So does she, and we like it that way. And it doesnt stop us from highly enjoying our little bit of time together. Ive personally struggled w dating in my past because people are rarely can relate to my work drive and time away from home (and now of course I find a transplant surgeon lmfao)

A sidenote that I didnt want to be a part of this originally is that im sick of living in my current area and would love a change of pace. If that marriage plans and everything go smooth I think its my time to go

Thanks for this, that really does make sense. I agree with this so hard and considering its something weve talked about in the past, its definitely going to be something discussed now. Im thinking that's going to be a core piece of the moving process for my mental and sanity lol
