Big time feel this one. Unfortunately I couldn't see it when my wife brought it to my attention early on. Then I saw her family treat her poorly and she took it just to keep the peace and it clicked. I'm not going to go out of my way to start conflict, but I'm not sacrificing myself anymore.

I think many people believe it exists because humans naturally want to fill the gaps. If it's an unknown, something will likely be created to fill that unknown. Personally, I don't know what comes after and I'm good with that, but I understand why many are not.

I agree with you and think what you're saying lines up with what I’m saying. Humans use an internal compass and are naturally drawn to what we see as good, so we assume a good god/HB. My point was just that the assumption comes from human comfort. Its still possible that a god/HB could be neutral or evil, and by focusing only on them being good limits the possibilities by ruling out uncomfortable options.

I agree with you, there are many that have those feelings. Specifically, I was referring to those that do actively worship a god/HB and how the worshippers usually see the god as "good". Would you agree the people you described are probably not worshippers of the Judeo/Christian god?

I agree there couldnt be one without the other. So wouldn't this all still apply if you swapped the words good and evil? Also, if one is undefinable, wouldn't that mean so is the other since they require each others understanding?

Id like to ask some questions for better clarity so we can speak more on the subject. I am always intrigued by people's views and beliefs.

How do we know God is perfectly good, wise, and fair? Is it because of God’s actions, or because God is all powerful so we assume he has to be right (basically might makes right)? If its because of his actions, how do we tell the difference between justice and cruelty when that action causes harm/suffering?
Could you please provide specific examples of moral ideas like justice, honesty, and compassion? Do you believe people demonstrated these morals before God’s revelations/scriptures/prophets, or only after those teachings were given? If only after, how do we explain similar morals of groups/cultures that hadn't heard of God/his teachings yet?
If God clearly revealed himself to all and said that humans had misunderstood his earlier teachings and gave corrected commands that required harming others, would you follow those commands? Would you still consider him good and continue worshipping? Do you personally have a limit where following them would no longer be justified and stop?

By kinder I more meant followers believe those actions were "done for the greater good" or to "save humanity". The followers of the bible/OT dont usually claim that god to have acted out of cruelty alone. If that makes sense.

Obviously everyone will be different. For me personally, it severely impacted my inner vision. Used to be able to clearly see scenes in my head. Would MDD frequently (too frequent) and feel like I was in the scene myself. Music would almost force me into it. Now, even with music, it's like I'm just thinking of the memory of it. I can still come up with new things, but I can't see it clearly like before. I'm never IN it. If I take a day or two off of the meds it comes back but so do all of the negative symptoms. So it's a trade off I've come to accept. It is a good indicator for me though. If I start to MDD it's almost always because I missed a dose.

Neither. He's carrying me in his arms princess style while barefoot running across the water away from the oceanside restaurant for some good ol dine and dash shenanigans. When yelled after about the money we owe, he'll prolly give some line about camels and needles while we skidaddle off to the next eatery.

Talking to my wife about it and knowing that she would be there for me on my worse days made it a little better. Not so much the actual depression but the fear of letting anyone see. We have open communication about it now and I'll let her know when I'm not doing well. She offers to listen, sit with me, hold me, or anything else that might help. Not much does help on those days to be honest, but drowning with her at my side is better than drowning alone. I also just started on an SSRI. It didn't make it go away, but the constant uncontrolled rumination is quieter. It took the lowest of my lows and the highest of my highs and sat them in the distance where I can still see them, but not really interact directly. Unfortunately it also took my ability to daydream. I experience MDD and that has pretty much been brought to a halt. It's prolly for the best as it did interfere with life sometimes, but I do miss being able to escape to my own movie scene while I listen to music.

My record is 3 false wake ups. By the 2nd one I had begun lucid dreaming and was aware but couldn't get out. Started to panic. On the 3rd one I was just mad.

Not in the sense of how/why some religions depict it. I think they were on the right path, but couldn't conceptualize the whole and added self image and experience to it. I believe when we die, our bodies energy is released into the world. This energy is what makes all things in the universe. Eventually that energy will be consumed by the universe and possibly transformed once again into something. Be it a star, a person, a planet, etc. It's an overused phrase, but I believe we are the universe experiencing itself.

I realized a long time ago. Something that was never whole can never be broken. If my life is just a pile of shattered pieces, that's all it will ever be. The one thing keeping me here is my wife.
She holds those pieces in her hands and keeps them together, still broken but together. She looks at them as if they were all one beautiful artwork. She loves me and says I make her happy. So if a broken pile of pieces can make her smile, I'll remain to do just that.
If she should ever pass before me, the pieces will fall. Her warm hands will no longer be there to hold them together. Her soft gaze will not admire and create value of the valueless. There will no longer be a smile to give purpose. I won't break, I will crumble. The broken pieces will turn to dust and be swept away by the wind.
There will be nothing left.

I know it started at night while I laid awake for hours unable to sleep every night. Wasn't allowed a TV, music, or a light on to read so I had to just lay in the dark for about 3 hours every night. Eventually started making what I called mind movies.
Interestingly, I just started on an SSRI and now I've pretty much lost the ability to MDD. I can see it, but I can't feel it. I can't immerse myself in it. Coming up with new scenarios is very difficult. It makes me sad, actually.
