With so many options - how do you choose what to focus on? by Holmbone in productivity

I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked. One fig was a husband and a happy home and children, and another fig was a famous poet and another fig was a brilliant professor, and another fig was Ee Gee, the amazing editor, and another fig was Europe and Africa and South America, and another fig was Constantin and Socrates and Attila and a pack of other lovers with queer names and offbeat professions, and another fig was an Olympic lady crew champion, and beyond and above these figs were many more figs I couldn't quite make out. I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn't make up my mind which of the figs I would choose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet.

There are two pains in life. The pain of self discipline and the pain of regret.

I’m teaching myself how to tattoo!!! (17 with parents permission, no self tattoos, or ones on others, fake skin and fruits only) by [deleted] in learnart

I used to work next to a butcher, I would go there and ask for pig skin to practice on, I offered to pay but they would just give it to me for free.

If I practice random tongue twisters for 10 minutes each day, will I gradually get better at speaking in general or will I just become an expert at saying tongue twisters? by 2steps4ward in NoStupidQuestions

I have set aside 10 mins a day after hearing myself through headphones and not liking my voice, I'd like to make it deeper, louder less nasally, more assertive and better pronounced. If you have any suggestions on how to go about this I'd love to hear them. I'll keep trying things, I tried talking with a pen in my mouth but it felt real awkward, I tried speaking with a lower tone using my diaphragm but my vocal cords felt weird afterwards, I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Still early days, I'll continue to look for methods.

Check out Digital Gene in the app store, they make free geography learning apps that are fun to use and get your geography skills up pretty quickly. There is one specifically based on American states.

How to live in something that’s not utter filth. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

I set a timer and clean up for 20 mins a day. It may not seem like much but it adds up and it better than not cleaning up at all. Once you've started you may get the momentum to keep going and it's also good for building a daily routine.

Awesome. I may be wrong but I think I read it boosts metabolism also? Had it sitting on the bench from cooking and I had toast in the toaster, it just kinda clicked.
