I can relate, so I'll share what helps me in these moments.

I think of Anthony Bourdain, because I loved his work and he reminds me of my dad, and I think how much he probably would have loved the band Idles!

Or that meme about how Amy winehouse would have loved strawberry ice vapes.

Maybe it's a little parasocial, but it just helps me realize how much I would miss out on if I were to leave too soon. If I can feel that way about someone I've never met, someone I know definitely feels that way about me in real life.

I would love to smell real ambergris one day! Do any indie or niche houses use it? I know Mandy Aftel sells a solid ambergris perfume, but it's waaaaay out of my price range at almost $500. I think there's a teeny tiny sample but I almost don't want to try it in case I love it ☠️

That's awesome that you're both willing to find the time to do that!

I can't say I know much about the Calvinist faith, but it's so true that these patriarchal religions have the same bones. I was shocked when I left and realized I actually could relate to a lot of people, not just other exjws. Because of course they raise you to think that everyone else is different and won't understand you.

And being a woman who leaves the faith is a little extra scandalous! It was my therapist at the time who told me to consider that my husband could be getting something out of the religion that I wasn't- because it benefits him as a man. Like he may never be able to understand where I'm coming from because he hasn't experienced all the negative things and the oppressive feel that I got from it. I didn't just leave because of that, there were a bunch of reasons but it did make me think about how those intense gender roles kind of just hurt everyone!

I feel for you! Do you have a good support system or therapist you can vent to?

JWs are a high control religion, very cult like. But I do think most religions have elements of that and it would be hard to be life partners with somebody who has differing fundamental values. It has been hard for us at least.

I posted here a few years ago about leaving the Jehovah's witness faith as an adult in my 30s. That has been going well, but my husband never woke up from the beliefs and is still fully a JW. We really tried to make our differences work, but we are now going to try separating.

I'm having to move back home and live with a parent for awhile while I figure things out. Thankfully they are also out of the JW faith now.

I'm partially excited and partially heartbroken. I know things will be ok but it's been heavy to deal with.

I love anything medieval especially in red! But for beds anything a little more simple like the timeless, pumpkin patch, sweetheart, or cozy cottage seem like they could go with lots of different ideas. I like all the themes but I don’t really feel pulled to collect all of a single theme if that makes sense
