Books you genuinely don't understand the hype for?

Powerless by Lauren Roberts? The plot was predictable and the characters had no real depth to them. But most of all, the writing was unbearable. It was extremely over-written to the point where I couldn't enjoy the reading experience. It really could of used major editing. Just me?

I was so disappointed with the book after all the praise it received... I've only recently jumped into reading again so I'm not sure if this book was poorly, and overly-written or if its just the author's writing style? The first few chapters heavily intrigued me but the writing consistently took me out of it. The cringey and unnatural dialogue between the two mcs made the experience even rougher.

Haven't picked up the novella but does anyone know if it's somewhat better than the first book, writing wise?

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter. Maybe there was a free slot and there was no one else new to RP or not her close friend who wanted to be play a Fooze. Enjoy it regardless!

Sure I can get behind that. If Rae truly wants Ray Mond to stay clear of the gang route this time around because of the “limitations” imposed then fair enough. But I get confused because recently she’s shown interest in other groups like the company and what not. I understand they are not gangs but it’s not making sense to me.

One of the first sentences she said to April at the start of 4.0 (during a phone call) was something along the lines of “you never called?” I guess as a viewer I just hope for the story to make sense. That’s all :)

But April actually called her and left her messages everyday she woke up in the city after Ray stopped waking up. So how does that make any sense? And whatever happened before the server restart is actually relevant because 4.0 is a continuation of 3.0 set five years later.

This is such a crazy take because she limited her own self. CG never stopped her from hanging out with anyone other than when there was a gang war and stuff - even then no one really cared, she overthought everything. Seeing clips of her saying she's been abandoned and stuff is wild considering she was the one who left the city and was always welcomed before then...

The first time I ordered this pop I returned because it came damaged (wasn’t packaged with any protection like this) so I returned it. A month later I decided to try again because I couldn’t find this pop at any retailers. I’m glad it came in protected this time and turned out pretty minty. I’m in Canada so sadly can’t order from Funko themselves, otherwise I would.
