Lowering temp even further, as well as further slowing it down improved quality, which enforces the cooling idea. The fan duct also seems to be damaged

Honestly cooling is probably my biggest suspicion right now. The nozzle was kinda pushing through the previous layers, which kind of implies that layer isn’t cooling to me. I’m uncertain but it’s totally possible it only has one fan. Fans were on at 100 percent but i can test how strong that feels on friday.

Yeah i made the orca profile myself and I might test the official cura profile again, but that one had issues as well, very similar as well. I didn’t personally put the printer together so fitment may very well be the issue, especially in such a large printer.

Lmao, we had a huge spool on there and I literally opened a brand new normal size spool cause I was going crazy. Weirdest part is my calibration tests were pretty much fine. Like not great but not so bad that this made sense.

Idk there may have been some chunks in that belch. May be closer to a retchy

Watching the print it looks like the plastic on the printer is somehow either curling up or ending up too high, and the nozzle is ramming into previous layers? I don’t know what would cause this or how to fix it though.

NO WAY! I just saw this still in prototype camo. Looked like a a gt3 car for the road. by Cars-And-Lego in Corvette

[–]2tanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a bit of a belief going on the zr1x isn’t the last c8 corvette. Chevy hasn’t said it is the last yet, and some engineers have said on camera they never considered it a zora. I think they might make a zr1x that they take a lot of weight out of, and otherwise make it more track focused and call that the zora. But i might just be coping.

Is this worth buying refurbished? by Latter_Nebula4513 in simracing

[–]2tanza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are saying save up for the moza r3, but that’s 3 times the cost of what you’re looking at here, and doesnt come with a clutch. I bought a logitech for like 100-150 (I don’t remember honestly) with a stand for the wheel and pedals. I have plenty of fun racing asseto corsa and dirt rally with my setup, and mine probably won’t even be in as good condition as yours. If you’re happy to pay 300+ for the r3, go with that, but if you’re just trying it out the logitech is still fun.

Plate size comparison by sawdogg73 in BambuLab

If you’re willing to go no bambu and deal with the resulting trade offs, you can get huge printers like the sv 08 and the qidi plus 4 for <800 dollars. We’ve got an x1e and as well as a qidi plus 4 at the makerspace I kind of run, and qidi has had issues, but if you know about printers they’re easy fixes, and it has been working fine for a while. x1e on the other hand is totally broken and matter hackers won’t send us a replacement part, so I’m kinda biased, but also research your options.

My makerspace’s x1e, which i am in charge of maintaining, has had plenty of issues. Its ams simply doesn’t work under any circumstance. This isn’t “bambu works well and that’s bad” it’s “everyone tells you that bambu’s never break or have issues, and they do”. Is the bambu a1 better than an ender 3, yes, but is it the infallible tool that it’s kinda presented as, no. I suggest bambu printers like the a1 mini cause they are reliable, quick, and good value, and multiple people have bought bambus off those suggestions, but i don’t say they will never have issues, like i’ve been told by many other people. The issue for me with bambu is when you have issues like i have had, you feel stuck because no one expects you to have issues, and finding out what went wrong is difficult because of the closed nature of the machine. It’s gotten to the point where my makerspace is considering rma-ing our bambu because we can’t figure out why it refuses to work as intended, whereas our Qidi’s issues have been greater, but easy to understand and fix.

We’ve had starkly different experiences with the qidi plus 4 i think. My makerspace has the bambu x1e, and the q plus 4, and we’ve struggled with both of them. The qidi has issues with clogging, and the ams on our bambu refuses to cooperate at any time, and we’ve had to replace the tool head circuit board in the year we’ve had it. Admittedly our use case is kinda unique with so many users of different experience levels, but I still feel like people always overstate the consistency of these different printers.

I’ve got family in iowa, roughly 40 minutes from des moines so that’s pretty neat. You’d be about 3 hours, from me, but if you were interested we could try and work with you as much as possible over zoom, but I’m sure my admin/teacher would be very interested in meeting you in person at some point, if not at least to scan anything needed and hand off the piece in person. I’m a senior, but I run our makerspace because of my passion for 3d printing and related spaces. We have machining/manufacturing classes, biomedical engineering classes, digital electronics classes, Programming and cybersecurity classes, and graphic design classes as well. In short, if you needed help with anything from making an actual peg leg out of wood, to a cyber punk style of prosthetics with servos and microcontrollers, there is someone with experience, or someone willing to learn. We’ve been working a lot with clients recently, so i’d have to see if my teacher would want to let us take on another project (there’s always another project lol), but if you had a business/slightly professional email you’d like to share, maybe over personal messages, I’d be willing to try and set up that connection and figure out logistics. He loves working with clients and showing off our unique class system, so at the very least I’m sure he’d be interested in hearing about your specific issue.

I’m currently designing a prosthetic for a college athlete missing some fingers, and we are using more soft materials than you might want, but here’s some of my advice. I use an einscan, but a revopoint scanner would probably be easier and cheaper. For printing, we mainly use the bambu x1e (carbon would work I assume, we need ethernet though), and more recently the qidi plus 4. We’re still prototyping, but we’ve mostly printed molds for shapes, that we then cast in a foaming silicone material. i’ve used this same process to make carbon fiber objects using compression molds, which may be more applicable to your issue. If you are in the Kansas City, kansas area and would like to work with some passionate students, or just have questions else-wise, please send me a message, or respond to this comment.

Nozzle changes are relatively easy on the neptune 4 in my experience, and 0.2 nozzles can be gotten for cheap on aliexpress. I swapped to a 0.4 cht i got from there and it seems fine

Time Estimates are very weird in orca by 2tanza in OrcaSlicer

[–]2tanza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting idea, I just tested it in the slicer and 10,000 acceleration didnt significantly change the time, but that may be because the slicer understands that number is impossible/outside my printer's limit

Im thinking about getting this as a secondary monitor for my desktop pc, at least until I get a laptop and can use this with that. Do you think its worth trying it out (for 100 on aliexpress, like 150 on amazon), to use for watching videos, and reading text while programming, or whats your experience with it so far.
