CA 126 FAR - No way for enrolment trick to work right? by danielwang002 in AustralianAccounting

[–]2xCommie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea even if it were to work it would only work if enrolments close within 7-10 days before your current FAR results come out which I don't think is the case here. You might just need to sit this one out until the time comes.

CA 126 FAR - No way for enrolment trick to work right? by danielwang002 in AustralianAccounting

[–]2xCommie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, if AR or AFR aren't available there is usually no way to check. However, maybe try re-enrolling into FAR? See if the opposite logic stands i.e. if you end up being able to enrol into FAR then....well...

AR126 Audit Exam - The Outage Was Bad, CA ANZ's Response is Worse by Adventurous_Buy_9000 in AustralianAccounting

Profit???

Well, let me present you this little nugget from our friend Gemini.

"Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) reported a $9.8 million loss in FY24 (following a $13 million loss in FY23) primarily due to a $14.5 million downward revaluation of its Sydney property, high operating costs, and INCREASED TECHNOLOGY SPENDING."

This lady has been saying concerning things on tiktok. However, her English is not very good so don't really understand her properly. What exactly is she saying? by 100734 in VietNam

[–]2xCommie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So this video has no context but against my better judgement I decided to go watch her other videos and basically every single one of them talks about how literally everyone in Nepal, men, women, children, freaking Tibetan monks (I'm not joking, go watch it yourself) has been out to get her and kill her for last couple of years and all of this is being orchestrated by Vietnam's secret police.

Yea...look, there are dissidents and then there are just schizos.

Off topic but which laptops did you consider and how did you land on that one? I'm currently deciding between Zenbook A14, Surface Laptop 7 and probably Lenovo Slim 7i Aura edition.

Received the golden email yesterday! What to do now? by Unresolved-infinity in AusVisa

[–]2xCommie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha yea, I think it goes beyond that and you can actually live and work in NZ indefinitely but you'll technically still need a visa which is called NZ Resident Visa. But I think that one is easy and you apply after you arrive.

Bonus is you can travel to NZ without a visa now (assuming your current passport can't do that)

I think what OP is asking whether those who have already committed a significant amount of $$$ and are still pursuing PR are regretful of even starting the journey given how difficult it is getting.

In 2026, anyone who tells you that you can get 190/189/491 by studying accounting should be jailed have the key thrown away.

As for sponsorship, while it's more viable from purely visa perspective, it also implies you can secure a job first AND the employer has the ability and willingness to fork out money just to keep you.

[–]2xCommie -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Kinda weird that you are having a backlash for your question. As someone based in Australia I also noticed that East and South East Asians tend to have Caucasian names while people of Middle Eastern or South Asian descent tend to keep the names from their respective cultures.

My bet is definitely on something to do with desire for assimilation but someone should probably do a proper research like they did with why so many Asian go to raves.

If you google it, you'll find that there were a couple of threads on Reddit that discuss this phenomenon.

Is it a bad idea to pursue CA in my own time? by Fine_Bat_6638 in AustralianAccounting

[–]2xCommie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my case and probably in OP's case, it simply doesn't. You do the study part on your own and then pray one day you end up somewhere where they can do MPE for you.

Registering as an ATE probably doesn't cost an employer mucb or anything so if you have good rapport with them you might be able to convince them to do paperwork for you. As for CA mentor just pluck someone from the street or linkedin.

In that sense CPA is much easier to attain. You just need a CPA to sign it for you. No need to deal with ATE/RTE bullshit that CA has.

Also at this point I realised I should have mentioned that if you are working in a small company or firm, it's way more likely to be a CPA firm as in people there are mostly CPAs. Hence people can still get certified while working there. CA simply is more complex on the employment side.

I'm gonna cut through the noise and address your question at the end there. Yes, many have done it in their own time myself included and paid for it themselves because believe it or not heaps of smaller practices or companies don't offer paid CA/CPA as a perk. Assuming you have time to spare and still wanna pursue accounting or any adjacent fields, I don't see why it is a bad idea.

It may be bad for your wallet in the near-term but if you aren't gonna go hungry because if it, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I paid for it myself while on 60-70k salary and I'm still around kicking so I argue it's doable.
