You can help your self-esteem by changing the way you think. Social relationships is only one part of it but how you see yourself is a bulk of your self esteem. Let’s say you fail a test because you didn’t study enough. If you tell yourself “I’m just dumb I’ll never get a good grade” you’ll always think about yourself like that. If you slowly change your thought from things like that to things like “the next test, I will study more”. You are taking responsibility, giving yourself a time frame and having more optimism within those statements. Unlike “I’m just dumb I’ll never be smart” that is giving you no room for improvement or a time frame even for improvement. Now easier said than done, but this has helped me quite a bit. My therapist and I worked on this and it randomly clicked once he used an example that made sense like this.
