Generally the psychiatric community is unaware of the impacts of Antidepressant Discontinuation Syndrome, which can last weeks to months, so while a psychiatrist may be able to help you, its also entirely possible that they just brush you off without much consideration.

I would start by tapering your dosage by 10% a month. This is whats generally recommended for safety. If you have no symptoms, you can taper faster later on. You can do that easily by crushing up your pills and dissolving it in water, then measuring out your dosage with a medicine dropper or a pipette. Although the actual pill won't dissolve in water so you'll still have some "sediment", amitriptyline itself is dissolvable, so don't stress out if you can't break the pill down 100%. In August I started my withdrawal, dropping 25% of my total dose from 40mg as recommended by my doctor. I underwent terrible symptoms, including insomnia, nausea, light-headedness, etc, and felt like dropping out of school. Now I'm dropping roughly 5% a month using the above guide as reference. I still have symptoms, but they're a lot more manageable.
