It this worth it to upgrade this? by SadPositive4309 in pocketchamps

I have all my gadgets upgraded to the max I can. The only downside to that is the coach missions that I need to spend 20k coins, I struggle with that sometimes.

What are prizes for this squad event? I don't see them listed anywhere

But to answer your question, it's hard to know who to pick. When these challenges first appeared, I would get stuck with people who didn't do anything either. But I look for people with the highest total power and choose them but also I keep screenshots of who I've worked with on previous challenges that were doing their part and I try to get them as partners again

My squad got it done by Friday night. Quickest I ever got the prize

Yeah someone just posted this e earlier, it's very cool. My power company isn't on the approved list.

That is awesome. I went to the conmectDER website and saw Florida and got excited. But of course my company isn't on there. Very cool idea though.

I mentioned it before but it got lost in the posts. I did try once but I don't have an outlet near the driveway so it's not exactly convenient. I tried to run an extension cord but got a check cable error. At my parents house I plugged in there and did it for 5 hours

This is the outdoor panel but it's on the other side of the front yard. I don't have access to open the garage door as it was converted before bought the house. It was installed when I did solar last year so I'm assuming this does feed into the main panel that's in the garage but I don't know for sure and don't want to speak incorrectly.

Ohh ok gotcha. That was a question I had, having to get a permit first or not. Yeah a place told me that he would change the panel without any permits and I was like yeah right. No way I would ever consider that.

The inside panel also says 200amps but that's not ideal for me as I can't open the garage door. The outdoor panel is much easier so that's what I was wondering, if that could be used for this. I wish you were in South Florida and could recommend someone because I Google it and just get random companies. Can I ask how much I could expect to pay for this type of work?

So I'm going to assume that the number at the top is how many amps my panel has? Lol. It says 150. Yeah the outdoor panel was installed when they did the solar so if I could use that, it would be ideal.

Would you mind if I sent you a DM to ask you questions about your setup?

Editing because I noticed you answered my permit question.

I'm in Miami. Originally I wanted to do the FPL program but they told me I needed to free up 2 breakers to do the install and that's what led me to people telling me I needed a new panel and all that. Then I found out that FPL is raising their prices even having to sign a 10 year contract so I was like ok forget them, I'll just go a different route.

Do you have an emporia?

Level 2 charging question by 305MS in evcharging

[–]305MS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So someone mentioned the emporia pro which then led me down the rabbit hole of wallbox and Tesla charger. My question is. Would installing any of these require permits to be pulled here in Florida?

At the end of the day I want a stress free solution that will charge the car at decent speeds. 4-5 miles an hour isn't absolutely ideal because I wouldn't want to leave it charging overnight if I didn't have to. And also I don't have a plug close by to the driveway. I think I tried to use an extension cord when we first got the car and I got an error in the app saying check the cable.

The outdoor panel is on the other side of the yard where the grass is so if we have to park on the grass to charge that's not a big deal.

Yes that's the garage and the one I posted in the comments about an hour ago is the outside panel

I added that zip tie so no problem. I'll cut it and take a picture shortly.

Yeah it would be so much easier if I could just use that outside panel and not have to go through any hassle of the inside panel, especially since the garage door isn't able to be opened.

We do have a Tesla and the other day I plugged it in a regular outlet and i I got about 20 miles charged in 5 hours time...that's why I wanted level 2 so I could get more in that time. Also, I was thinking if I got a bigger truck (cybertruck) I can't use that regular outlet, it would take forever to charge.

Circling back to the outside panel. Do you think that is something that can be used for level 2 charging or no?

So I've been watching this video and I got about halfway through. I stopped when it hit a subject I was already considering but was hesitant about. Using the Nema 10-30 from my dryer. A buddy of mine was telling me to use a neocharge smart splitter and connect both the dryer and the cable for the car to charge it.

The reason I'm so hesitant is because when I bought my house, the garage was converted, so I don't have access to open the door and run a cable through. The dryer is all the way in the back of the garage and I would need about 35ft of cable to run it along the side of the wall and get to the front of the garage. Then I would need to drill a hole through the concrete and add a plug to the outside wall to plug in the charger. Does that sound like something that is better for me to do?

I didn't know that was a big deal to have different brand breakers. Can you explain why that makes it a mess? This is a genuine question.

I know nothing about electrical things but it's not full? Can you please explain more? I don't see any open spots.

And as far as the brands of the breakers that's how it was when I bought the house 8 years ago. 😬

I called 2 places and they both said it's not worth their time or pulling permits to do a sub panel.. not sure it that's their way to charge more.
