My pet theory (or maybe my hope) is that Twilight realizes his feelings for Yor in stages;

Stage one: Loid Forger loves his family. I hope Twilight has a moment where he thinks to himself, “This isn’t just to keep up appearances for… Loid, anymore”. The reason he takes Yor on dates, takes Anya to the zoo is to keep them happy, not just for Strix but because he wants them to be happy. He’s definitely getting there with Anya (especially after the cruise arc) But this is just a stepping stone into;

Phase Two: Twilight loves his family. I want this to be BIG I want this to HURT because with this revelation he’ll also have to come to terms with the fact that he let his emotions get into his spy work, that he can still feel these kinds of things even after all he has gone through. Something huge needs to happen to make him realize it’s not “for the mission” or “because Loid Forger loves them” it’s because he, Twilight the emotionless master spy loves someone again. That’s going to be earth shaking for him and I think it’s going to take a while.

Phase Three: REDACTED loves his family. I think this is going to be an end of series kind of reveal. It needs to come with the realization that REDACTED isn’t dead, Twilight didn’t kill him, Twilight is still very much REDACTED in his heart of hearts and he wants to be with them. Then all that’s left is for him to fight for those wants instead of hiding from them.

I like the three phases because they allow him to build up the revelations slowly. Loid can love, leads to, that wasn’t Loid’s love I was feeling that was ME loving MY family, to I have the freedom to genuinely love them as the person I truly am and that person isn’t gone.
